This was such a great concert! So glad we got to be at the concert, at Marcel's for the dinner, and at the concert after party! From the NEA, BMI, and the Kennedy Center...everything was First Class. Just an amazing couple of days in our Nation's Capital enjoying and honoring the greats of our American Art form...NEA Jazz Masters.

Who knew that an alto clarinet could sound so beautiful?
Well, I guess Maria Schneider and Scott Robinson did.
I’ve loved this song since I first heard it, and grown to love both the Dawn Upshaw rendition and Scott’s own rendition with Maria’s band.
    Simply gorgeous.

STANLEY CROUCH To the world he was too many things to list But I'll list a few that impressed me the most (the non personal ones first) "Hey Stanley Ive been reading your Column in the Daily news and Village Voice" ..Your becoming a star . Wow man I saw you on 60 mins taking Andy Rooneys place You are a star! just think You;ve always been different one of a kind now the world knows And hows Lincoln Center going with that guy you mentored Wynton Marsalis Great he responded and HBO is negotiating with me to do a Movie from my Charlie Parker Book Im coming to your world. Man I said arent you glad you stopped playing that Tom Drum as a Bass Drum (he was good and on a few albums) but thanks my brother for saying I was a Unique and good sax player cause after all the books you wrote on Music you know a thing or two LOL But what i will remember most about my friend Stanley Crouch is when I first came to LA he was the first to drive me around and show me the city always Stopping at the original Fatburgers as he called it on Western I will play that Sax and dedicate it to you on y radio show this week as i just told your daughter You left a wonderful legacy my Brother R.I.P and thank you
