This video brings back memory of my old job in Illinois. I used to repair the Panasonic DVD recorders from 2007 to 2009.

Hi guys. Thanks for the great video. I’d like to record an 8 and a half hour sporting event from my Sky box onto a DVD with this Panasonic recorder, whats the best way of doing so, if I can? And what type of DVD will I need? Cheers

Hi. Does anyone know if there is any DVD-R home recorder that records in actual 16x9 widescreen? Do they even make DVD-R recorders anymore?

I think some Sony DVD recorders can record in 16:9

i have been looking for the same but they have it for the European market (Pal System and 220 Volt) Australia, New Zealand, Japan, like panasonic dmr-ex97eb-k dvd recorder but i noticed that this model does not have RCA inputs or HDMI inputs for HD widesceen, seems to be that only record TV signals and TV guide also there is PANASONIC DMR-PWT550EB, but i think its the same problem only antenna inputs, the problem was that in USA they stoped the production because companies like TIVO and Cable companies saw a competition to RENT there DVR recorders, thats why you only see here in the States old Panasonics with Hard Drives of 40gb, 80gb and 120 gb and many models like this one without a Hard Drive and Analog TV tuners from 20 years ago and also record on DVD-Ram Disc, and DVD-R and they sell them with a very high price but outside of USA like Asia, Europe, New Zealand and Australia they are more modern, in Japan they have a Panasonic DIGA DMR-BR160-K it is a Blu Ray recorder with 320 gb, Japan it is NTSC System since 1960 so may be that could work in the USA or try Panasonic Blu-ray recorder with 1TB HDD/2 tuner Panasonic DIGA Home Cloud Diga D but very expensive recorder

late reply, but anyway... I own this particular unit, and according to the user manual, it will indeed record 16:9 aspect video, but only on DVD-RAM discs. Regular DVD+/-R(W) will only record 4:3 aspect ratio.

Thanks for posting. Question: When I stop recording and NOT finalize the DVD, I can still watch and rip it on a PC, right? Thanks.

You will need to finalize it before trying to play it on your computer.

This thing is hot. . .

Corey Fellows I've owned four, used, at one time. Facing the front of the machine, the right top side on some of my machines, seem to get hotter to the touch than others. I haven't opened one yet, but I'm guessing the laser may be on that side, underneath the cover. I use a small fan to blow cool air across the top. It helps to reduce or even prevent heat build up, the enemy of electronic components, from causing damage inside the machine. Having been in military, field communications, the equipment was subjected to continuous use was designed to be cooled by fans, not air conditioning. I used that concejpt to keep my home electronics, dvd recorders and even power adapters cooler. Any one of my machine, can be subject to hours of use. So aesthetics and some fan noise are not issues for me. By the way, for years, I have use Verbatim dvd +RW. I had not felt the urge to invest, spend more money on dvd Ram. The +RW allows me more flexibility, than the -RW, to create the thumbnails, some edits and program descriptions needed before finalizing the disk. The last thing that can be done, is to set the disc with a Top Menu, where you can configure the disc to automatically play the first program or the disc can be set to access the program of your choice. Alright, it was more than you needed, lol lol, lol. Have a great day.

    Hi
    I live in Italy
I'm about to buy a mint dmr es 15 PAL
Does the composite input works with both PAL and NTSC analog cameras?
Please let me know! I need it as a passthru TBC and transcoder. Best regards

Depends. Had a look at some manuals and as long as you can configure the thing I think so
Just remember to have the capture card and ES15's I/O set correctly.
I don't own an ES15 of any kind, let alone a PAL one.
