- The hymn of Shere Maria is the Paralex of the hymn of the blessing (Ten-osht) It is said after raising of the incense (Matins), while deacons are putting on their tunics. It is also said during the procession, in the glorification of St Mary and in wedding processions.
First Verse: Hail to Mary - Mary is called the Queen and Ever-fruitful Vine because she bore Christ, the "Cluster of Life," maintaining her perpetual virginity, as prophesied by Ezekiel.
Second Verse: Son of God Incarnate - Jesus, the Son of God, took a human body from the Virgin Mary and saved humanity. Mary is called the Mother of God (Theotokos).
Third Verse: Full of Grace - Mary is praised as the Full of Grace, a title given by the angel Gabriel. She is also called the Bride in the Song of Solomon.
Fourth and Fifth Verses: Mary’s Unique Honor - Mary is the only woman to become the Mother of God. Her honor surpasses that of all other women and saints, as mentioned in Proverbs and the Song of Solomon.
Sixth Verse:High Tower - Mary is likened to a tower that connects heaven and earth, as she bore Christ, Emmanuel.
Seventh Verse: Perpetual Virginity - Mary remained a virgin before, during, and after giving birth to Christ, symbolized by stars on her icon.
Eighth Verse: Exalted Above Angels - Mary's honor as the Mother of God surpasses even that of the cherubim and seraphim.
Ninth Verse: Pure Bride - Mary is the pure, chosen bride of Christ, praised for her internal virtues.
Tenth Quarter: Intercession - Mary intercedes for humanity, asking her Son, Jesus Christ, to forgive our sins.
