Montréal: Accident spectaculaire avec incendie / Dramatic crash with truck on fire 8-23-2018

À 2h50 ce matin un spectaculaire accident de la route a fait deux blessés graves sur l'autoroute 40 à l'est de l'échangeur Des Sources à Dorval. Un camion de transport de marchandise de plus de 40 pieds a pris feu après l'impact et s'est complètement embrasé. Des travailleurs qui s'affairaient vraissemblablement aux travaux sur la 40 ont été parmis les blessés. Des images tôt sur scène montrent l'intensité des flammes qui se dégageaient des véhicules accidentés. Au moins 4 ambulances ont été dépêchées sur scène pour venir en aide aux pompiers surchargés. Les équipes de secours ont forcé une barrière séparant l'auroroute des voies de services afin de brancher un boyau à une born fontaine. L'autoroute a été bloqué complètement en direction est afin de permettre aux pompiers de combattre l'incendie. Selon le porte-parole d'Urgences Santé Steve Fiset, l'accident s'est produit lorsqu'un poids lourd a foncé dans un véhicule de travailleurs qui s'affairaient à déplacer des cônes oranges de signalisation. Une victime, un homme dans la fin vingtaine était dans la boîte extérieure du camion et s'affairaient à la tâche. Il a été projeté sous l'impact et a souffert de graves blessûres mettant sa vie en danger. Un autre travailleur lui aussi en fin vingtaine aurait subit des blessûres graves alors qu'il a été brûlé au 2e degré suite à l'incendie qui s'en est suivit. Le conducteur du poids lourd, un homme dans la quarantaine a lui aussi été transporté en centre hospitalier avec des blessûres mineures.
At 2h50 this morning a spectacular collision left two road maintenance crews seriously hurt in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. A tractor trailer driving eastbound on Highway 40 just east of Des Sources interchange in Dorval, rammed multiple roadcrew trucks at high speed. The impact caused a fire to brake out and quickly involved the large semi transport truck. Flames could be seen from a distance, turning into thick black toxic smoke rising over the scene of the crash. Firefighters battled the intense blaze that consumed more than one vehicle. They forced open a fence separating the sideroad from the highway in order to stretch a line and plug it into a nearby fire hydrant. At least 4 ambulances made their way in top priority to the scene of the terrible accident. Parmedics and firemen rushed to provide help and assistance to the possible injured. One of the worker, a male in his late 20's was thrown from the back of the vehicle he was taking place in while he was picking up orange traffic safety cones in a construction zone. He suffered critical injuries and remains in life-threatening condition in hospital, according to Steve Fiset a spokesperson for Urgences Sante. Fiset also says that another worker suffered serious burns cause by the fiery nature of the catastrophic accident. The driver of the tractor trailer suffered minor injuries but was also transported to hospital. Highway 40 was shut down in the eastbound direction most of the day causing heavy traffic delays in the West Island.

This is also the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the fire, I thought fuck this is not good. I really hope both guys will recover.
I'd like to say thank you to 4k guy. cause you helped me understand a bit more what happened but im glad to say im doing better.

hello, i speak you in french speak. En France, nous aussi nous avons rarement d'hydrants (poteau a incendie) sur les autoroutes, car leur installation et entretien reviendrais trop cher. De plus; les feu de véhicules ont rarement besoin de beaucoup d'eau pour être éteint, car les feu d'hydrocarbures sont pas des types de feu qu'ont éteint avec l'eau. En Europe comme en Amérique, plusieurs modeles de versicules pompier sont équipés de réserve d'eau. L'eau ajouté à un adjuvant moussant, et a une buse spéciale; crée une mousse. Donc pas besoin de beaucoup d'eau sur les autoroutes. Si tu en utilise trop, tu a un gros problème : les hydrocarbures et résidus de l'incendie sont dispersés grâce au flu de l'eau au sol, et se retrouves n'importe où dans l’environnement (grosse pollution) donc plus tu a d'eau, plus la pollution est étendue.

Il semblerais que un véhicule de sécurité travaux soit mi en cause. Aussi, un camion nacelle. Tout les deux ont les feux travaux en fonctionnement (gyrophare et flèches de direction pour déviation de ligne de circulation) donc ils sont surement tout les deux là en stationnement pour des travaux. Ont remarque aussi des plots de signalisation routier. Cetait donc une zone de chantier. Dans ce sens de l'autoroute, il y 3 voies plus une d’insertion qui était terminée de pas longtemps. Ont peu estimer via cette vidéo que le chantier avait réserver une voie(surement la gauche?), il restait donc 2 voies plus la fin de la voie d’insertion, ce qui créai une zone routière dangereuse. Ont remarque que la nacelle était repliée. Aussi, les deux camions de travaux ont étés touchés par le semi-remorque. Ont remarque que la porte dans le grillage est pile en face de l'hydrant (le poteau incendie) lui sur la route parallèle à l'autoroute.

got a 14inch gassaw in my pickup so would take about 20secs, 15 of those to start it. And me doing it is not the point. these guys are "trained" to cut locks. Or whoever locked it up stupidly put some grade80 chain on it. Would be something interesting having emt's unable to resuscitate somebody on the highway
Worked for a gas utility on the street crews. You would not believe how many times crews get hit. On residential str with slow speed, police details, and cones. I don't know how it happens maybe they panic but it happens
At the most 2 lines on the truck fire. Not 40 firefighters, emt's and route workers milking the job for overtime.

At first after reading yours, I started to reply how could you be thinking that when such tragedy is happening. But then I stopped and thought maybe I need to go see just how gorgeous these po pos are. And I agree with you. Makes me want to commit a crime where these officers are so they can arrest me. I'll bring my own handcuffs. Looking forward to the pat down and maybe I should resist a little so we can wrestle some.. LOL...
