      There's more that goes into the idea of defunding the police from what I've read. A large number of low income or ethnic neighborhoods have had funds diverted from education and into policing. This means that the kids in these neighborhoods will not only be poor, which has the most correlation to crime rates, but they will also not learn enough about their own disadvantaged situation to choose the right path. Then police come into these neighborhoods at a high rate and start to lock up people for small drug charges etc. This allows for cheap prison labor. So, to sum it up, I wish that people would advocate for rerouting of police funds to lower income neighborhoods.

    • @shicocc
      @shicocc 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @nanda erdhani he is a person and is allowed to have an opinion. he obviously has an open mind, a willingness to learn, and knows how to educate himself. plus his experiences growing up in a racist criminal family are valuable. driftor also has a large platform, so him using it to make people think and talk is what he SHOULD be doing.
      another thing; I agree that we should defund the police. what I disagree with you on is that most cops are evil; I don't think they are. what's actually at play is that these cops are participating in a racist and flawed institution, and they are too ignorant/uneducated to realize it. outside of this, I wouldn't be surprised if many of them are average or good people.

    Defunding the cops completely is a horrible idea, I'm sure we can all agree that there are bad people and good people.
    However I do not realise why so much of America's economy goes to the police while they could take billions of and invest it into other options that result in the decline of crimes to be committed in the first place.
    This may also be radical but some murders really shouldn't be alive unless they even a small hope of reforming, a death of a murderer isn't bad if he isn't going to reform in the first place.
    Protests should not be ignored and I think all protests should be dealt with when they are peaceful and change be made if that's what the people want. We are all people at the end of the day.

    • @kazkasKitoBaisaus
      @kazkasKitoBaisaus 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Servine if you really want police brutality to end, you need to take them out of the equation. you don't hear about police brutality in forest fires, cause they are not the ones responding - firemen are. when you have groundhog blocking traffic - you don't need police, you need animal control. when you have trouble with homeless people - you need social services. when there is a neighbour dispute over their lawn - you also don't need police.
      however... usa has gigantic problem - it loves guns. oh how it loves guns. so now - even groundhog can potentially have a gun, thus only police can respond. what usa has not yet realized, that even trees can be hoarding ak47s, so police should respond to forest fires too.
      remove guns from people and then most of troubles would never require armed police office responding.

    I have many Correctional Officers (CO's) in my family and we've had the morality debate numerous times for many reasons. But the main one is while police operate mostly out in the open in view of the public and the community they work in, CO's operate behind closed doors where no one in the public or community sees them. So the only people who see how they operate (good or bad) are their own peers and inmates. The same thing's you are talking about that plague the police also plague the prison system. Except IMO from what I know from accounts of family members abuse of power can be worse because everything is in house so many things can be hidden much easier and they know that people are less likely to believe a repeat criminal if actions are taken. Add to that, that most of society automatically assumes that anyone incarcerated is a POS and you've got a green light for abuse and brutality with no fear of repercussions. And all the same issues you bring up are the same. The stress, pay, and the risk of losing your job if you speak up. But I'm seriously glad you brought this up because I believe it's not as clear cut on either side as people think it may be. Just like many things in life the truth and reality is somewhere in the middle and if we are going to fix this as a nation we are all going to have to see the problem from everyone's perspective not just our own and then work together to make the system better for all parties involved. Though this will never eliminate inherently bad people all together it will be a good start to people helping and trusting each other again.

    Thanks for making this video. I pretty much completely agree with you and have had these thoughts in my heads since this all started. I haven't really tried to put it into any concise statement or words however, your video did just that for me. I'm glad to see someone who takes their opinions seriously share similarities with me when it comes to this situation. It's tough because I don't see a lot of statements like these nor am I able to share it like you as the age demographic I'm in is mostly filled with ignorance and people blatantly following whatever the next person tells them.

    I have a lot of problems with this video. Now before you write me off I agree with some of your solutions. The first problem that I have is with your argument against ACAB because I believe it is missing the most important reason why this is true. The argument goes as follows: The job of law enforcement is to enforce the law. There are unjust laws. Therefore law enforcement uses force to back injustice. That is the core argument for ACAB. My second problem is is your misuse of the term "anarchy". Now it has been used casually to mean chaos and disorder however, it actually means the dismantling of unjustified hirachrys. That is to say that in many situations in our society the structure of employees management and bosses is not justifiable for the stakes at hand the classic example being fast food service. And my last problem is with how you think defunding the police would work. It isn't just a yoinking of funding from police and that money just disappears. What proponents are proposing are to reallocate funding into new departments that have specialization in the type of problems that police are blanket called in for. For example mental health emergencies wouldn't be responded with cops with guns but instead a social worker who is trained to deal with mental health issues. I love your cannel especially your philosophical stuff but I can't help but feel on this video you just didn't do your homework. Keep the great content rolling and stay safe.

    When it comes to the face masks, I used to wear them all the time as they are required at work right now, but they haven't turned the temperature down at all with the weather getting warmer and because of that the masks hold in all the heat, start to break down from my sweat, and causes me to get heat rashes everywhere as I'm not venting enough of the heat off. It's been getting really bad that the rashes are starting to just appear anywhere. At first it was just my arms, but now I have some that won't go away on my hands, my thighs, my face, neck, etc. Not to mention that at work we are being tracked how much we are actually working so stopping to get a drink is discouraged. As such it's basically my risk of the spreading the virus or collapsing of heat stroke or dehydration.
    Been downing a whole bottle of water at every break just to get by and get grab my bottle like 3 times every quarter. It's pretty dreadful. And at first I thought it was just my section of the building that was hot as we work next to the truck doors (it's a warehouse) but being sent to other departments and going upstairs to fix jams have shown, nope they just have the air conditioning turned way down or even possibly just off. Last night it was actually cooler outside then it was inside at the end of shift. Not much I can do about it. The only people in control of the temperature are those in the cubicles in the offices and they obviously don't care as much as say me picking up and carrying boxes that may weigh up to 40 pounds.

    The points that followed are completely wrong. Defund the police is about narrowing the police's function by providing money to other social services. For example, better funding for housing & mental health so that it isn't the police's job to deal with the homeless or addiction.

Said family member has never had to fire a shot out of weapon other than a taser on people that were legitimately not cooperating. He’s proud that he’s never had to use very much brute force or violence to do his job and his entire department that he’s the head of is proud of the fact none of them use brute force unless absolutely necessary and no one has fired a shot unless the offender has had a weapon of their own.
