    This brings back memories. This modularity was just a dream, decades ago, when I used a field view. Just a dream.

    You have a beautiful company there. Your humility and honesty speaks volumes. As an engineer I know the pitfalls of a project like yours. You have done great things and anyone looking for a new 4x5 would be insane not to purchase this outstanding piece of work…. Just brilliant 👊🏻

    Hey Elvis! Hats off to you and the team for creating it and all the hard work. I can truly see your dedication to the thing that you love. Projects like these are always hard, especially when you have high standards. I am sure the camera will be a beauty as soon as I have it in my hands. And I guess you have a customer for life now. :) Good luck with the last stretch, you all can do it. And stay strong! Have a nice party when the first batch ships out. :)

    Hi Elvis, thank you for your updating video. You are as real and human one can be, I loved when you became emotional and showed your feelings.
    The Eikan looks spectacular and even better than before. Yes, it will be a top-class camera, no doubts. Again, thank you and your team for your wonderful job. Very well done. I am looking for to get my hands on mine and take beautiful pictures with it. A camera that inspires me to take even more pictures. Cheers my friends from Slovenia. 😀❤

    Hey Elvis! Thank you for sharing all of this, and especially your heart. I can really feel it in how you talk about it and how you showed the camera too.
    Reminds me of Ferry Porsche who said ‘I could find the car of my dreams, so I built it’ - I think the same can be said for all of your cameras, and I really appreciate it.
    Also, sorry about the allergies. We’re coming to the end of that season here, but it’s miserable. Take
    Care of yourself!
    Cheers!

    Hello Elvis! It is very exciting to see how you put so much passion into your work, I would love to have one of these cameras not only for the quality of construction but for the level of detail and mastery with which they are made. From a third world country with a very broken economy I send you a hug and I promise that I will do everything in my power to get one of these cameras, I love photography and I want to do large format one day I hope soon

    Hey Elvis - I really wanted to participate in your KickStarter - I didn't have the cash for it at the time but I really TRULY believe in you and your product.
    I've followed all your updates and your work ethic, passion, challenges and patience with everything that's happened so far is absolutely saintly.
    I'm sure you feel guilty towards your contributors/pre-orders and are under massive pressure - but it is ABSOLUTELY the correct decision to take a break and come back fresh, and you're doing it for the right reasons; burnout is real and losing you out of the camera-making-sphere would be an unfathomable blow to the film community.
    Take care of yourself on your break. Take care of yourself, your family and your team.
    We love you man.

    • @ONDUCameras
      @ONDUCameras  13 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      It means so much to me for you taking the time to check my work and respond with your thorough observations on how you perceive my story on making this. As you mentioned about burnout it happened once before and it literally took years to get back on track and almost ending this camera making work. This time I was trying so much not to make the same mistake but they still do happen. I'm on day 1 of my break now and I can say I feel much better already. So I'm pretty confident when I come back we'll hit the ground and finish this endeavor. Also this last sentence brought a tear to my eyes, it means so much, thank you! ❤️

    Best wishes.

    I'm a firm believer in buying from craftmen wherever possible. The idea of a large format camera I can switch between formats is really appealing. I have a less than great 4x5 and a rather nice 6x17 field camera. I don't need another 6x17, but a 4x5 that can be upgraded/switched to 8x10 sounds great. I'll subscribe to this channel to keep an eye on what you're doing.

    • @ONDUCameras
      @ONDUCameras  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Thank you for the positive coment. Just to be clear this particular model is upgradeable to 4x10" while theoretically 8x10 would work also, there would be an issue with centre alignment of the front standard since it's much smaller on the 4x5 camera as well as limited extension compared to an actual 8x10" although it might still work. But for a dedicated 8x'10" I think a bit beefier construction would be needed.

    • @careypridgeon
      @careypridgeon 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@ONDUCameras 4x10 quite interests me, since I'm a fan of the panoramic format. I'm not so keen on the only extant 4x10 field camera on the market at the moment due to its price.
      Your film holder loading mechanism is of particular interest as I'm disabled and have reduced use of my hands, making inserting holders difficult to impossible without help on most current models.
      I didn't get involved with the Kickstarter as I've been burned by those in the past, but I have invested in several after they passed the kickstarter phase. Yours seems like one in that category.

      Thank you for the kind words means a lot, I'm trying my best to make everything as close to home as possible also don't work with exotic wood types onyl what's available in the local area. Slovenia is a beautiful country but like I said in the video I need to get out for a week or two because of hay fever somewhere to the coast where my allergies disappear:) really appreciate your comment!

  • @hoggif

    That seems pretty nice camera (and not too expensive either). More details on front locks and movements would be nice to see. I wonder if there is a single knob for rise and axis tilt or if it has base fron tilt. I think separate lock of front rise and tilt is essential to keep two adjustments separate. (some may not agree on that though). No photo on the website either shows which one it is.
    A combined shift/swing is not such a problem as there is no weight of lens like with tilt and rise.
    Oh, that looks so nice. I'm so tempted to order one!

    • @ONDUCameras
      @ONDUCameras  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Unfortunately no seperate movements on the front standard as of now, it might happen in the future, there are mixed camps when it comes to this particular feature. Base locks up to 90° so no forward tilt either, and as you guessed it the base has a combined shift/swing. There is possibility due to the nature of the construction for extra rear movements as well, but this camera all by itself is already a handful to deal by myself at the moment. If the format and model gathers momentum in the future, I will try to cater to the needs of photographers like you and adapt as we improve our production processes. Thank you for the input and kind words, means a lot! Elvis

    nice presentation, but at 21:44 that tab is called a "bail Back" design, not many 4x5's have this (my SINAR F2 does, in it's own quirky way); but 8x10" does, why?... All should, it's a nicer experience, but one NEEDS to make the bottom shelf such that the film holder sits on with a TACTILE feeling, so even with the bail opening the GG 1/2" or more, you can't make the holder fall off the ledge, so exposing a slit of the holders' film area to the open air ( or worse, cocking the film, hence a focus issue as the film plane isn't plumb).
    nice finished article, beautiful wood, and metal finish, looks all but an EBONY RS 45 , a fantastic aesthetic and build. PS: an idea, for the future, how about some gun metal or titanium parts?, would realy make a collectors item!!

    • @ONDUCameras
      @ONDUCameras  15 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thank you for the clarification and for teaching me something new in the process, I have a new word to add to my vocabulary. I think most camera makers omit this since the springs needed to hold a 4x5 sheet film holder are less strong usually than those for 8x10, this would be my assumption. Thank you for the kind words, I would assume if this camera takes hold in the already pretty filled market of camera makers that there will be future special builds with various wood types, bellows and materials like Titanium or similar, but first things first. Finish this batch and see what the photography community will say about it in real life. Thank you again for taking the time to listen to me talking and for your observations. I really love reading comments like this.

    Hey Elvis! I've a question about the camera: what kind of lens board does it take? Like linhof compatible, Sinar, etc etc or else?

    • @BadCooper
      @BadCooper 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Also, I see you've mentioned the fresnel lens with the ground glass, will you produced them also? Or I have to find them on my own? Thx again

    • @ONDUCameras
      @ONDUCameras  11 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hi the cameras lens boards are linhof boards compatible. I will be producing my own lens boards at a very reasonable price point from black anodized aluminum. The only question still to consider in the future is whether to keep the 2.25mm thickness of the Linhof boards or make them 2mm which would make them significantly cheaper, and doesn't bind the final users to only proprietary linhof lens boards which to my understanding are a finite resource. Another thing that bothers me personally with Linhof style boards which has a recess on the back is that this makes the camera front a bit less light proof if we don't make the front components of the camera in a similar fashion, another troublesome think with a lot of Linhof boards is that they are often off centre which means that if you use their boards the cameras zero will not actually be zeroed. As for the fresnel at the moment this is standard issue with all cameras rhat I make. Probably at later stages it will be an add on option. I'm keen to hear your thoughts.

      @@ONDUCameras thanks for your response.
      I'm very interested in this camera project (I'm also a owner of a Ondu 6x17) since I'm looking for a small and light 4x5 camera to bring around. As you mentioned, it's not easy no find Linhof leans board around, so I hope I can 3d print a compatible model.
      Look forward to hear exciting news about your project, good luck!

    Tenho um sonho de poder comprar uma câmera sua, mas minhas condições nãome permitem, moro no Brasil e além do preco ser em dólar somente as taxas aqui no brasil superam o preço da camera, ou seja, se eu consigo pagar a camera, não consigo pagar as taxas, fico chateado pois suas cameras são maravilhosamente lindas e confiáveis. Meu sonho é poder fotografar com uma camera sua.
    Abraço desde o Brasil.

    Hi there, in land of Prevc's 😸⛷️
    I've been in the state of doing too much, trying to meet these hard goals, and, day after day, more than 10 hours, your productivity and work quality drop off dramatically... You can do one 16 hour day, but it really takes two to three days to recover!!
    These problems with subcontractors are just deadly, and must have been really, really tough to "suck up", especially after the first run went so well.
    Big congratulations on getting to this point, the parts I see look lovely!
    Greetings from a guy with too much experience 😆 a 🇨🇦 in 🇩🇪
