New Balance's quality control is so bad now it's appalling. Shame how more people don't call them out on it.
In fairness, the only sneakers I've been receiving that look factory perfect every time are from Adidas. I've had countless Nikes ship from Nike that you'd think were counterfeit. Even the "Made in the USA" New Balances are off.
You can't find TH-cam channels calling out these brands. Too many of them have kiss ass to get their videos out before the sneakers even launch to the public.
I wouldn’t argue that it’s so bad but I often see fans of new balance tout this idea that “not made in China” qualifies its quality. I think since new balance broke regional popularity there’s been some drop off in quality to meet demand.
Mentioning the small "N", yeah I actually love the small N on my 992, also 2002R. Even 990 v3 is not THAT bad. V6 and especially the 9060 with the large N (reversed on the other side), eh...it's a tiny detail, but I get it, love the classic small N logo.

They may be listed as grey but silver might be a better term. They aren’t outright matte.
