    Thanks for sharing your real world experience with autobahn driving. Your ID.3 is remarkably stable and quiet on the autobahn. The autobahn driving reveals that the MG5 is an old Roewe FWD fossil car converted to BEV. The MG5 noise, suspension and drag are a generation behind the MEB platform. I am looking forward to your test of the new MG Marvel. I expect that will be noticeably more modern but a lot more expensive.

      @林振华-t4v ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol, yeah, because the ID 3 weight like a pig compare to the MG5. If that extra lead is what you need to settle down the suspension. Sure..

    Traditionally, MPH/KPH best range figures always were considered 56mph or 90kph, ie the best compromise of speed/distance - Whilst your speed is very realistic as a max for much of Europe it would be nice to see the 90kph stats from you as well for driving economically and getting best range, especially as it seems very difficult to emulate 130kph average, it involves lots of hard acceleration to keep getting back up to that speed. Certainly manufacturers claimed kph and power usage could not be used critically in conjunction with your findings at least, they are pretty meaningless as WLTP range has an average speed overall of about a third of your speeds I think. A vehicle traveling at 90 kph (25 m/s) with a Cd of 0.35 and a frontal area of 2.2 m² requires a force of 288.75 N to overcome wind resistance; at 120 kph that force increases to 513.33 N, or nearly double - thats a lot of wasted energy if you are trying to stretch range or just maximise range and that area is probably the single greatest issue for existing or potential EV owners. Could you try it on a test? Boringly for you of course it has to be both ways.

    You have cruise control set to auto. That's why it doesn't hold steady speed. But you're asking too much from it. EVs are not meant to be driven so fast. Especially the cheaper ones with small batteries. Driving at a more sensible 100km/h will give better results. Not only because of the reduced load but also because of the reduced drag. Above 120km/h drag increases dramatically.

    Warum sollen 220 Wh/km bei 130+ km/h schlecht sein? Nenne doch bitte ein E-Auto, dass diesen Wert unterbietet, bei der Geschwindigkeit schafft das gerade einmal ein Tesla, wobei es auch genügend Tests gibt, bei denen das Model Y (das hier mit dem MG wohl am ehesten vergleichbar ist) 240+ Wh/km bei 130km/h auf der Autobahn verbraucht, was deutlich zeigt, dass bei E-Autos mehr Faktoren für den Verbrauch relevant sind als bei Verbrennern (und nein, ich habe keine Verbrennerbrille auf). Also bitte sachlich bleiben, 25-29 KWh auf 100 km sind heute bei den allermeisten E-Autos mit 130+ km/h die Realität, und da schlägt sich der MG5 im Vergleich recht ordentlich.

    • @BatteryLife
      @BatteryLife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Weil die Durchschnitts Geschwindigkeit sehr niedrig war. Heißt: ich bin nicht lange 130 kmh gefahren. Deswegen sollte der Verbrauch viel geringer sein.

    If, in my MG5 LR (61kWh) pre-facelift car, I can achieve 225 mile range on a 302 miles (483k) journey (aircon, KERS3 and Econ mode) where 83% is motorway at 70mph (112kph) with wind and some heavy rain, in comfort and only a little wind noise, is it all down to the larger wheels on the new model making the ride harder, road noise louder and range reduced? They do seem to be to blame for the 0-60mph (0-96kph) acceleration reducing by about a second.

  • @TheOnlyJizz

    The 5 is my 6th EV in 6 years, and when compared to my previous Nissans and Renaults it's efficiency for general driving stacks up well. Over the last year 25,000 miles I've averaged 4.4mpkWh which isn't too shabby at all. What lets it down at higher speeds is the rear underbody aero, because essentially there isn't any, just a huge void and the rear bumper hanging down like a sail...

    Interesting your title card which I disagree with as I've seen James of James & Kate in the UK on their TH-cam video uses this same vehicle as his EV service vehicle and loves it got great range but then the UK has speed limits. The Autobahn I've heard with your new government may be getting speed limits applied as well. I'd rather see a 100-110km/h range test which is more what most countries have for freeway/motorway speed limits.

      @@TassieEV By German Standards it is.
      130 km/h is official "Richtgeschwindigkeit" (recommended Speed) on the Autobahn.
      Personally, since I switched to an EV, I already reduced my typical traveling speed from 160 in a Diesel to 120-130 in my electric car - but the slower you go, the more of a road block you become and travel will be rather annoying.
      Either stick to normal travel at 120+ (130 recommended) or stay behind trucks doing 90.

    • @TommyBoay
      @TommyBoay 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. An EV6 RWD consumes about 23kwh at that speed. But it will go much farther on a charge with the 77kwh pack.

      That's way too much in my eyes, i have no idea what went wrong ?
      They had so good experience with their KIA EV6 Niro !
      How can it be that the E-Niro gets just as good range with a 60 kwh battery as an EV6 with a 77 kwh battery ?
      There must be a way for them to brng the consumption down to about 21 kwh at 130 kph by tweaking the driving software and reducing roll resistance a little in the 2023 model year, especially if they are adding the battery pre conditioning feature to get better charging speeds, which will, further increase the consumption if that feature is used.
      Tesla did that several times just through OTA Updates !
      KIA should be capable of doing that also !

    • @TommyBoay
      @TommyBoay 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cf6965 I generally agree with you but a few facts that need to be stated :
      1/ My consumption was on a colder day than this video. About 10 degrees.
      2/ The EV6 is a big and quite premium car making the weight quite significantly higher than the Niro.
      3/ The amazing charging curve has probably been the biggest focus, more than the engine efficiency. But as you said, if it is something they can enhance later, then it might have been smart to get the curve right before anything else.
      In my view, the EV6 provides a sufficient highway range between two charges to make the stops feel “natural”.

    Question is what not good enough is. For the money you will not get better value. Any car at 130 is not that efficient, from a efficiency standpoint the car performs better than average at lower speeds on the highway. Therefore this autobahn test is not that useful, I rather see the 1000km challenge from bjorn what it achieves there.
