- In this video, we are talking about some of the ways you can use to spot an untrained makeup artist! Just to be clear, I made a few of these mistakes in my early days - more than 7 years ago. If nothing else, this should be both enlightening, yet entertaining!

I've heard from one MUA here on TH-cam that even the Mascara applicators have to be disposable and it made me realise how unhygenienic some "MUA"s are. Thanks for the vid Mena. Love from South Africa ❤

I have disposable EVERYTHING! I alcohol with me and makeup wipes. If I accidently use a new tube of gloss on someone I am like...congratulations you have a new tube of gloss! LOL I racks me to use unclean products on people! It's just creepy! I also have a separate back up of brushes too. If one falls on the floor...I get a clean one!
@@malaikasdurbin8960 girl this is me all day. people ask why you have so many of the same brush ummm you can never be too prepared. thats like your stylist dropping the comb and then using it in your hair again instead of getting a new one.

This video changed my life. I am a freelancer. Because of this video I bought sanitizers for my eyeshadow and palettes. I now have a bottle with 100% alcohol and water to sanitize my liners before and after. I sanitize my hands. My clients really commended me on these sanitary practices
Most cosmetic stores even do not do that with their testers. Big ups for this content 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️
Yo, legit! Never try out any products in certain stores. I just remember years ago we had to sanitize products before the customer would use it. I don’t know will be going on these days.
girl this video is needed. i am a freelance makeup artist and also a licensed cosmetologist. we have to take ceu classes and the first thing we go over is SANITATION. 90% alcohol isnt the best for sanitizing brushes though because it does dry too quickly. biggest pet peeve USING THE BACK OF YOUR HANDS ugh get a pallet they are cheap and mix foundation or lip products on that. i've worked with other "artists" and was so disgusted by some of the things i saw. hand washing is a must. artists also should have disposable lip brushes and mascara wands. a bottle of alcohol is A MUST IN YOUR KIT. i love this video. like 1000 times lol. love your channel.
Yessssss!!! It’s so true. Bad habits and perhaps those folks aren’t trained. I wasn’t “trained,” but thankfully learned SO much while working for MAC. Very important!!!
@@MENA_ADUBEA you learn things along the way as well i'm self taught so i didnt have professional training. for some reason mac would never hire me so i decided to just work on my own. found a mentor and with my cosmetology background the sanitation thing wasnt an issue plus i HATE GERMS lol.

I know this video is old but yet very helpful. The issue I've ran into with color matching is the lighting in the stores....like Sephora....the LED lights are not helpful at all.
Not 99% alcohol tho bc it dries to quickly & will not sanitize. It should be 70%

When you said MUAs shouldn't even be breathing on the client, I was like yes that's true and I think we should normalise wearing a nose mask when making someone up...

I worked for MAC in Paris and I would constantly stop people from using the lipstick without disinfecting it 😬 I would be like hey wait let me disinfecting it for you cause they would apply it directly and blow my mind 🤯

OOH Mena, ALL OF THIS IS TRUE!!! When I did freelance for Lancome, I've seen some of the artist in Sephora guilty of a lot of these thing!!! I would be looking at them like 😱😱😱😱😱.....I JUST KNOW YOU DIDN'T DO THAT!!!
