Hindley was patient and measured while carapaz more rode on instincts. I think Hindley could have taken time on stages prior to 20 but chose not to, carapaz/ineos never seemed to really put him under pressure in the last week.
HIndley said after stage 20 that he and Bora "saved their matches" This sums up everything. It was not until the stage 14 circuit that Bora revealed they were serious about the GC. As for 2020, Hindley over achieved and that was an unexpected result. Even so, if not for the incredible pull of Rohan Dennis on the Slevio stage it is doubtful TGH could have won that edition.
So Yates didn't matter, he's not there unfortunately. What's annoying is knowing Jai is capable but Bora waiting to pick their GC. Shouldn't have been a competition. Jai is a stayer, he's happy to push without chasing at great speed. And not spending that time in the red is super smart and finally paid off. Such a great guy and deserved winner. Hopefully he gets a seat in Copenhagen.
Would honestly be insane to send him to the Tour this year. Not enough time between the races. But he definitely needs to battle Pogacar, Roglic and Vingegaard in the coming years. Hindley has produced some of the most stunning performances of the last decade. His Piancavallo 2020 ride by far exceeds anything Pogacar, Roglic and Vingegaard have produced for that amount of time. And even in this Giro, 6.5w/kg for 15minutes on stage 20 is INSANE. Pog got dropped on Ventoux by Vingegaard doing 6.2 last year (though it was far far hotter and Pog knew there was a descent to gain back time).
Good analysis. It is kind of demonstrative Carapaz sprinting stage with no bonus seconds
Super impressive from Hindley to win so many sprints!

Kämna showed that he is the next big thing at bora hansgrohe
wonderful video!
Excellent
Carapaz is the mate who will never not sprint into the town line. That’s who he is.

Great video. I thought it was over when Porte abandoned.
Can he win tour 23 ?
Almeida stolle Carapaz's giro victory on Blockhaus. Period.
