For the farm upgrades bottom path gives money (as you just upgraded) and top path gives health to the base each new wave (same goes with the war bonds upgrade). Also you can also see the plane if you look at the sky when a new wave is approaching

Harry the farm actually has a c-130 that drops the crates you only missed it
in most games with paths, a correct way to say for example 2 on the the bottom and 5 on the top, is 2 to 5, or 2-5; vice versa.
