Walking with Llamas in Northern Argentina!

Caravan de Llamas is a unique and immersive tourism experience in Tilcara, Jujuy, Argentina, where travelers participate in guided treks through the stunning Andean landscapes alongside llamas. These excursions offer a blend of cultural heritage, ecological awareness, and adventure, allowing visitors to connect with nature and learn about traditional Andean customs. The llamas, traditionally used by Andean communities for transporting goods, are gentle companions on these journeys, enhancing the experience of exploring the picturesque valleys, mountains, and villages of the Jujuy region.
You can do longer treks with a lunch included but we opted for a quick 30-ish minute walk near the complex. Suitable for all ages and fitness levels. it was quite inexpensive, I believe only around 15,000 Argentine Pesos for 2 people (Price in May 2024).
The road getting there can be a little bit rough but just take it slow!
The staff at Caravan de llamas are super knowledgeable and really, really care about and love the llamas in their care. Would definitely recommend if you want to get up close and personal with the llamas and learn lots of interesting facts about them!
