  • Get behind the scenes on this impressive project by CEBRA Architects - told by Master Architect Mikkel Frost, Founding Partner, Architect, RIBA, at CEBRA Architects.
The new headquarters for Danish Crown, a food manufacturer, is designed on a 12 ha site, influenced by traditional Danish farm buildings and agricultural villages. The goal was to create a work environment reflecting the company's 130-year history, from the cooperative movement to achieving climate-neutral production by 2050. The design features three wing buildings around a central hub, resembling a farm's courtyard or village green. This pivotal space houses common facilities and connects the building vertically with open bridges and staircases, fostering a flexible and diverse spatial landscape.
The building's design prioritizes a healthy work environment, optimizing daylight conditions and offering generous views of the surrounding landscape. Activity-based workspaces and a network of pathways in the landscape support employees' physical and mental well-being, encouraging movement and providing spaces for both work and leisure. The landscape integrates natural and agricultural elements with hedgerows and wild areas for climate adaptation and rainwater management, creating new habitats for flora and fauna. Overall, the Danish Crown headquarters promote employee health and engagement through an interconnected and dynamic workspace.
At Randers Tegl A/S we are proud to be part of this visionary project. Our development team was responsible for:
    - Developing a unique facing brick to complement the design vision from CEBRA
    - Developing various custom bricks for corners and recessed brickwork
    - Producing a carbon footprint-reduced brick - to comply with the ambitious sustainability rating for the project. The bricks stem from our GREENER brick range.
    - Engineering and producing some of the longest brick beams ever made. Beams with a span of 16 meters - entirely made of brick and without a concrete core.
