Thanks for this. Some feedback for future videos. I had hoped to see some close ups of Picasso's work on paper. Distant views of a wall with postage stamps on it show nothing. James Kalm in NY has mastered the art of how to show art on line. Text can be shown as a transcript btw. Good luck with future videos.
16:55 Very ambitious project. A artist’s guide to world events during the time period. Honors the craft of paper making and Picasso’s interpretation of artistic expression in the times he lived in and as time lived in him. Enjoyable.
Thank you for this video . I saw the exhibition five times alone and with my children and it wasn’t enough . Picasso is phenomenal ..... Thank you for the excellent exhibition! Please bring more Picasso , his endless source for art and life .
BEAUTIFULLY DISPLAYED..... A SIDE AND MIND OF PICASSO THAT FOR ME EXPLAINS HIS ABSTRACT WORK TOWARDS THE END.....A MAN WHO THINKS BEYOND THE SQUARE AND BEYOND........
I WOULD LIKE TO SAY WELL DONE TO THE TEAM THAT HAS PUT THIS TOGETHER FROM THE THE CLEANERS SECURITY, PAINTER, INSTALLERS, CURATORS, DESIGNERS. YOU DID A FANTASTIC JOB.
This was the most well presented life-time video I’ve seen. The well written information was wonderful, the music was perfect for reflection, the close up shots were very much appreciated. I soaked up every frame into my heart. Even though Back in 1973 I was a high school art teacher for nine years, I now at age 70, have a greater understanding and love for Picasso because of this presentation. I cried through one third of this remarkable video. Thank you so very much for the excellence you provided !! 💕😘❤️ 🌿🌸🍃
Janice, your comment has moved me and I thank you for sharing it. I love the way Art is and making it always here and always affecting communicating and somehow connecting people who would normally not reach each other.
This video was extremely captivating, nostalgic and beautiful from all perspectives. Picasso is a genius and this amazingly curated show syncs up with his talent in perfect harmony. The delicate instrumentals are pure bliss, as well as, the camera work. A masterpiece on ALL levels. A+ !
So well expressed, Janice. Intended to go up from the sticks to see this show at the RA. Virus intervened. Second Best: This RA introduction to the show. A virtual tour, so well produced by the RA. Images prioritised above a bland audio presenter.
i loved that video so much the music was so relaxing and nice and my favourite parth of the show was the mona lisa when i saw it with my own eyes my eyes were very exited please make a another video of this art musium ps make one more!!!!
Great exhibition, I saw it just before all the corona stuff really exploded. Wasn’t the biggest Picasso fan, but this has so much interesting stuff from a art technique point of view. Thanks for putting this up RA
Thank you for the virtual tour. If only it were accompanied by a site with stills of all the pieces that would permit a longer closer look. The tour gives a taste, the stills would be a meal.
Really appreciate the video during the lockdown. It is great to "see" the exhibition this way. However, just small suggestions to make it better. 1) more closeup to the drawings and paintings, 2) or uploading scans/photos of drawings that allow photographing, (to members)? 3) in the video, especially the last period, the intro focused on his last self portrait one year before his death. However, the most important painting is not shown in the video. He has several self portraits facing death. Very eager to know which one is on show!! Thank you all again for the wonderful video!
I think they have to negotiate a delicate balancing act between making art accessible to us, and not doing themselves out of in-person audiences. They have to leave us wanting more.
i extremely enjoyed this exhibition as although it is online the music and visuals really engrossed me in the experience and it was informative with the detailed explanations of context and the inspiration behind work that you wouldn't even necessarily get to see if you were there in person so made you reflect on pieces more deeply that you may have usually skipped over heightening the appreciation of the work. Also i think it showed an impressive span of his career given the relatively concise nature of the exhibition which helped to engage me more. if there was one thing i'd say i didn't necessarily like is that i don't think the images were as close up as i would of liked as you couldn't see much detail there and at times it felt disconnected from the text.
This was wonderful, I really enjoyed it. In the very last section we read about Picasso's self-portrait of 1972 but then you don't show it to us which was a little frustrating!
We've updated a couple of captions in this video-to see the updated version, please visit our website: www.royalacademy.org.uk/article/picasso-and-paper-virtual-exhibition-tour
When I first saw the title I thought it said "Picasso and peppa". Well I thought it would explain why she has both her eyes on one side of her face, before realising Picasso couldn't possibly have drawn Peppa because he'd died long before.
Well watching this it moves too quick ,want to read writing and look at art but it rushed for a person like me who has never seen any of this work, also the side scanning of the camera not show the pictures so basically cant take it all in my mind and enjoy or discover this work
I wonder if there are any artists like Picasso today? I admire how resourceful he was, in using any kind of paper to express himself. I don't admire the way he treated women in his life, but I love him nevertheless.
I agree. Most of the work could only be seen obliquely and from a distance. Why not do a relatively quick pan of each room followed by close ups of the works?
I thought this would focus on Picasso and PAPER. Instead there's just the standard story about the blue period, the pink period, The Women of Avignon etc. You should get to the point right from the start, paper paper paper.
I lasted one minute. Do you have to have the asexual guitar from hell accompaniment? Also Modern art doesn't equal atonal harp music by John Cage or whoever. Just have a person saying 'this is the main gallery' etc. and without judgment.
Sorry but this is not an “experience of the exhibition from my own home”. It’s a documentation, a promoting video. The experience of an exhibition is something different.

Thank you guys so much for this, I wish all museums would do this for those of us who dont live in the worlds capitals.

Thank you to the Royal Academy to allow me to visit the fantastic Picasso papers exhibition.

This is amazing, thank you for the video!!
A beautifully crafted video, as light and graceful as his works shown in it.
Thanks so much for this video. i had planned to see the show, but that didn't happen. Very glad to have this tour.
Truly appreciate this virtual tour in our current situation these days ✨
Questo autoritratto è qualcosa di così originale, espressivo, forte e delicato insieme. Mi affascina e trovo che s i a una delle sue cose più grandi.
"Picasso was endlessly resourceful" wow! I don't know why that resonated with me so much.
Thank you 🙏🏾
We know the man's history; the world knows the man's history; just show the pieces!!

Love the piece @ 33:41
Amazing - 100 years old, and still très moderne!
More than 100

excelente video.
I love the music accompanying this exhibition tour. Could we please have a music credit? Please?

Spectacular
Nice Movie THX!
Love the sounds...
Works are not outdated at all
I am always changing too. I go from landscapes to abstract to portraits.
woow thankyou for this, is amazing!

It's too frightening.
Nice
Thank you,a great lift for the creative spirit. Who is the composer please? The music is terrific

I'd like to know who the composer is.
R D JAZZBOY me too

@@Johnconno I find that hard to believe, so tell the name of the piece.
@@rdjazzboy1944 Number 29.
Awesome but it’s Picasso need I say more.?
When I first saw the title I thought it said "Picasso and peppa". Well I thought it would explain why she has both her eyes on one side of her face, before realising Picasso couldn't possibly have drawn Peppa because he'd died long before.

What is the name of the artwork at 37:48
I wonder if there are any artists like Picasso today?
I admire how resourceful he was, in using any kind of paper to express himself.
I don't admire the way he treated women in his life, but I love him nevertheless.
what was the name of the background music?
There is going to be allot of staring😂😂😂
Why all the unnecessary panning to and fro? Why position the camera at strange angles to the paintings so we see them in a distorted fashion?
Yes, that aspect was frustrating.
I agree. Most of the work could only be seen obliquely and from a distance. Why not do a relatively quick pan of each room followed by close ups of the works?
who else is watching this whilst in a art lesson in quarintine
Svp ji cadre Picasso 1933 on Algérie comment je fait aider moi
Oh u think we gon read a TH-cam video like a book
I thought this would focus on Picasso and PAPER. Instead there's just the standard story about the blue period, the pink period, The Women of Avignon etc. You should get to the point right from the start, paper paper paper.

Picasso was better when he was young, he tried much harder.
He could have been quite good.
Never heard of paper
Haha get it now they mean on paper art,not another artist called paper
I lasted one minute. Do you have to have the asexual guitar from hell accompaniment? Also Modern art doesn't equal atonal harp music by John Cage or whoever. Just have a person saying 'this is the main gallery' etc. and without judgment.
Compmaturism begins to occupy an important place in contemporary art

Why are they showing works on canvas?? Too fussy, can’t just go thru, no music, show us closeups? Maybe a bit of narration
Poorly showcased master works.
Agreed. Not thrilled with the camera panning across the room and showing several pieces from oblique angles.
quelle musique de m.....!
