it should always be like chess. no timed game should have no real way to make sure each player gets the same amount of time to play and think each game
Yooo Allen, this video was fire! Packed with good information as always, but additionally really funny and simply cool. I see a great improvement in video quality over the years, keep doing a good job. Cheers
I think this video is missing one thing- a call to arms. Grey e did it well with one of his recent videos in that we are not going to be able to have the best decision making like the best- there’s no amount of play testing that will do it for the average gamer- so what do we do? Complain? No- flood the meta with unused decks like a weird flip warriors deck(see vid for expl) we don’t have the ability to beat the elite players w their own decks but with decks that can consistently win against meta decks by exploiting their assumptions and weaknesses- great vid!
thanks for the video, my dude! very informative 👍 hope that you are doing well 🙏 i am considering trying out my custom deck,"Spell Counter Chaos Control," competitively... i dont know how well it will match up against other decks, but it may win a game or two haha. would be fun to see! how can i get into competitive goat duels? is there a way for it online, or do i have to keep an eye out for locals, regionals, etc?
I started playing the video game Yugioh Tag Force 5 and got the save file with all cards unlocked, I can build Edison And Goat decks. Pretty fun for simulating. As far as Goat goes I love reasoning Gate and trying to master that lottery. Sometimes it just doesn’t take off. I agree that some tweak experiments can be made. Maybe lighten up the Reasoning Gate engine to 2 for something else but not sure what yet.
don't give up on goat control. with enough chaos hate in the main deck you can win your chaos match up. I'm getting good results at my locals with goat control. main deck decrees are actually pretty good against chaos turbo not just warriors and burn
That’s still a win for you Forcing your opponent to kill their flip to play their bad hand fodder mon is still a + Chances are you’ll have something that can beat thunder dragon Unless they tributed sangan then that’s no bueno
I promise I'm not trying to be an asshole here, I'm genuinely confused: How can GOAT's Meta be any different now than it was 19 years ago? Isn't the whole point of GOAT that it doesn't allow any new cards released after 2005?
No new cards have been added. It's just that people have had an additional 18 years to play with the cards and have figured out that, what was once thought optimal, is actually not as good as other decks. I would say that every single deck that is competitively viable now is massively different from what existed in 2005 or just a brand new creation. Even decks that existed in 2005 like Burn and GOAT Control have had huge changes in what cards they choose to play and don't resemble what they used to be.
Warriors loses post side to Chaos Turbo who is dedicating multiple cards to side in and crush them. Even prior to side, I think the matchup is fairly even and post side the deck loses to Turbo. Reasoning Gate is just a Tier 2 deck at this point and doesn't have the consistency to compete with top decks. Alt win decks like Library FTK or Empty Jar have it much harder than a few years ago. Solemns are very common now and getting everything you need to go off is often just not viable. Of all these decks, Burn probably has the best matchup but Mystic Wok is a very easy side that, if drawn, makes it way harder for burn to get the last few bits of LP off them. Overall, I think the only reason you don't see Chaos Turbo dominate more tourneys is people either are bored of playing it or the best players aren't entering those tourneys. Don't Copy basically won the last tourney with a deck that everyone knows is NOT a "good deck". He was simply just more skilled than everyone else by a significant margin. At higher level like Worlds, I feel Chaos Turbo will only become more and more prevalent. Turbo has a winning matchup against basically every deck which, eventually, will turn GOAT into a tier 0 format. That last tournament you used to prove your point I think actually disproves it. Those decks won't be able to compete against meta decks piloted by top players and are either top players using rogue decks for fun or people just getting lucky by not matching against top players using meta. Those results do not represent what is actually strong.
You're wrong on basically all of your points. I'd be happy to play any of the 5 decks that I mentioned in this video vs a top Chaos Turbo player to prove it. There are lists that thoroughly crush Chaos Turbo (ie 75+% win rates), and if you disagree then you simply haven't seen them in action. It's pretty convenient that anytime Chaos Turbo wins it "proves its tier 0" and any time it loses it's because "other people got lucky." That's such an absurd way to view anything.
@@GoatDuels No offense, but I'm sick of no backing to these claims you make whatsoever. It's pretty convenient that you don't put your money where your mouth is and enter any tourneys. Anyone with a brain knows that, if a deck had a 75% win rate vs Turbo, it would be played nonstop but you want to claim ALL these decks have a 75% win rate? I guess every top player is just retarded then since they don't play obvious counters. I would LOVE you to play a top Chaos player with these decks and upload the games. I respect your skill in the game but your claims on these videos are getting increasingly ridiculous.
@@GoatDuels Please do. Please play against a top, well known player who mains Chaos Turbo using in a best of 11 sets and get a 75% win rate. I'd respect your opinions far more if you ever backed them up by entering tourneys (which you don't do and is "pretty convenient") but all recent gameplay on this channel is vs random scrubs on DB ladder or from your site that's just never releasing. You honestly think that ANY deck (much less 5) has a 75% win rate on Chaos Turbo and isn't being exploited like crazy? You think top players are that retarded that they wouldn't play those decks with a 75-25 matchup on the most popular deck by far? You make absurd statements like that and expect it to be taken seriously? I've seen those decks in action; they are not consistent or good enough to win tourneys with the best players. You can win small side tourneys where players like Don't Copy troll and bring a for fun deck maybe. Yes, you are cherrypicking tourneys and no, it's not "convenient" to point out that tourneys with deck variety are also ones where the top Chaos Turbo players happen to be absent. The first scroll you showed of the tourney with AAlvarado, Ghostrider15, and Insids is OBVIOUSLY a more "competitive" tourney than the second one you showed where those players weren't present. As you pointed out in this very video; you predicted Chaos Turbo would be going downhill and it only got more popular last year. It is very likely to be MORE dominant this year at worlds and using the multitude of small tourneys to try and disprove that is coping. If GOAT were like Tennis where there were just 4 "majors" a year, people would get a far better understanding of the meta and the dominance of Chaos Turbo. Instead, we have numerous weekly tourneys where there isn't incentive to try hard for a lot of top players or to even show.
Most top players have simply not tested alternative strategies vs Chaos Turbo. Of the 5 decks mentioned in this video... they've probably tested Warriors and that's about it. Seriously, go ask the top players how many matches they've played with something like Library FTK or Stall Burn vs Turbo and what they found the win rate to be. You're going to hear crickets. There are plenty of stacked tournaments where Chaos Turbo performed poorly, and you don't have to look that hard to find them. Worlds 2022 is the obvious one, and even in Worlds 2023, Earth Aggro would've won had the pilot not punted in the finals. Assuming that you consider GFCs majors (everyone does), the last 5 were won by Turbo, Warriors, Warriors, Monarchs, and Warriors. But obviously you'll find a way to explain that away as well.
@@GoatDuels You're right man, you're the only enlightened GOAT player. My bad. The other guys are just ignorant and haven't done proper exploration or thought about how to improve their win rates. We desperately need you to come in and demonstrate your 75% win rate decks over Chaos Turbo by hard sweeping them in tournaments. Unfortunately, you don't compete in modern GOAT and, if you did, you'd lose to the same top players you disrespect by implying they have little understanding of the meta so much so that they can't see the obvious 75% win rate decks sitting in front of their faces, even when you have been talking about them for years. It's whatever man; I do like your vids but it's obvious there's an ego component at play with you. I'm happy to be proven wrong; I would love nothing more than for Chaos Turbo to start getting destroyed on a consistent basis and would genuinely root for you if you were to enter tourneys and start tearing it up with these decks. I know that's not gonna happen though. I look forward to your video on Worlds 2024 and analyzing why so much of Top 32 is Chaos Turbo when they obviously should have been playing one of these decks.
Just ban thunder Dragon, no free 3 lights in grave, no discard resource/protection from duo, no +1 from grace combo with thunder dragon... and u will see chaos turbo become a tier 2 deck for being way too slow.
I think the choas turbo is bit over rated I run decked to counter with over all great successes just keep ur grave out of play or keep u from using and destroy everything u put out I'm good. Not much to worry about
And also that last will deck, i've tried it, it's super bricky and loses instant to just 1 dustshot or 1 interruption. don't copy must have had super mega luck when he won with that deck
the meta is not evolving it is just cycling. cards arent changing, its only different flavours of the month based on tournament results that are rotating but chaos turbo is the best deck. people get bored thats why not everyone plays it all the time even in tournaments. if this format wants to have different metas it needs changing ban lists that can bring fresh air to it. every couple of months. what happens if BLS and trinity get banned, witch unbanned, serpent banned. try torunaments with different lists and see what happens instead of artifically arguing about changing metas when there is not.
It seems like you're just arguing semantics. The decks that are doing the best in Goat Format has been changing from year to year. Decks win tournaments that were not present in the meta prior to that point. Whether you call that evolving or cycling is beside the point. The meta can absolutely change over time without changing the card pool, as 10+ years of Goat Format history has shown. You are entitled to your own opinions regarding what may happen in the future, but what has happened in the past is simply a fact.
I play IRL mostly and you are right here. I have a Chaos Return (have many other decks aswell just reflecting on your analysis) which is really powerful and i'm still making inventions (others people aswell so you need to be prepared all time). Honestly Chaos Turbe is dominating because it's a good deck which EASY TO HANDLE aswell.
Worlds never should have had a time limit. Also they need to stop changing it up every year and stick to some consistency
you'll never see consistency from anybody in this community
it should always be like chess. no timed game should have no real way to make sure each player gets the same amount of time to play and think each game

Can we ban delinquent duo from goat format as a community? Its more degenerate in goat than snake eyes is in modern
No the deck is just too easy to play compared to other decks that are close to its power level. Chaos turbo is just easy and hard to mess up
it just has more power plays with grace thunder combo, card destruction thunder/night assailant combo etc. protection from duo
