Isi by NEU! (Klaus Dinger, Michael Rother)
First release : 1975
Composed and performed by Klaus Dinger and Michael Rother
Engineer: Conny Plank
Co-produced by Conny Plank and NEU!
I listened to an early NEU! album, probably sometime around 1974. I was in love with Kraftwerk. I didn't really like it, so I never paid attention to this album when it came out. I am kicking myself in the ASS. This is fantastic. I could have been listening to it for the last forty-nine years. Oh well, better late than never.
This song sounds the theme to a futuristic utopian metropolis. It fills me with so much hope and optimism.
A special composition! It exudes a lot of optimism, joy, hope. It's like it's from another world, dimension. I'm very happy every time I listen to it ! Thank you NEU !
Like waking up on a sunny day in Berlin, going to a cafe, and finding all your old friends there.
Well, yes. But with this music especially I get flashes of days long gone, in my case Berlin back in the 80s. Music is the closest thing we have to a time machine. Your memories provide the coordinates in time and space, the music is the medium that will take you there, if only briefly. It can sometimes function as a way to relive times, people and circumstances that are otherwise no longer accessible.
@@renderizer01Berlin must have been an especially interesting place to live in the 80s, that western half being essentially the one "free" territory that was technically located in the DDR
one of the best album openers of all time
yes
Neu! were ahead of their time. Definitely they have their place among the best bands of Rock.
Ahead of this planet, ahead of this galaxy.
One of my most-played tunes for over 40 years!!
I love this song for when it’s night and your on the throughway passing by a city looking at all the lights and things... really completes the vibe it fits so perfectly.... 👍❤️
Oh I dunno, try Kraftwerk Neon Licht (better in German imo) ;-) that said there's nothing at all wrong with this :-)
The Germans are very important creators of the electric sounds in history..........Like Kraftwerk, Ashra-Tempel, Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze etc.
Tip of the iceberg mate.
@@BurmaShane pretty much, although I find the psych rock and prog end of it to be more interesting. (Dom,Amon Dull ii,Mythos, Wallenstein,Spermull,Can,Neu! (ofc),Holderlin, etc)
Absolutely
Loved Amon duel and wallentstein
And can of course
Happy NEU Year. I always listen to "Isi" on January 1--perfect track to start the new year.
I totally agree.👍
So retro...it's neu.
Bravo, but I believe it's pronounced Noy.

This is timeless.
Yes, you are right
this was the music of 1975 that brought so much joy into my life at that time...and then dueselldorf zeit ! so good
This was recommended to me as a “soundtrack for riding on a train”, and I can only confirm.
Can't wait to try myself
The drumming on this song is absolutely sublime.
What am I not hearing? Sounds pretty run of the mill to me
@@sr-kt9ml the Motorik beat was pretty wild at the time. But if you’re desensitized to it, it’s still beautiful to hear on this album.
brilliant
I see a BIG influence of this song in David Bowie's "A new career in a new town", from the L.P "LOW" It's was ENO who introduced David Bowie in the electronic german music...he spent some time in germany with Michael Rother and Cluster in 1976
And also with Edgar Froese from Tangerine dream, he was for a time a guest in his house.
And Red Sails from Lodger
Magic.
Amazing! Neu years ahead of their time.
deep future
gracias por dejar compartir esta gran banda de musica, forever 70s neu 1,neu 2,neu 3 in spain
Song ahead of its time.
Amazing. Just amazing
Geniale Mugge! Ich fühle mich wieder jung!
Stellar.
Decades ahead! 🛸
Surprised at how obscure Neu! is as a band considering what they done for the music scene along with Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream. I'd have thought a lot more people would have tried their music. At least there's this obscure little gem in a sea of Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande-esque pop...
And all of a sudden along comes Wet Leg and they win a Grammy with a song that uses a Motorik rhythm...
There's nothing inherently wrong with pop. Prince and Michael Jackson were pop. Taylor Swift is fun, good pop (though Folklore and Evermore aren't really pop). Ariana, not so much. Now back to the main topic -- yes, this is an excellent song and album. But it's not radio friendly. That doesn't make it better or worse.
@@marklavender204 True, it is not about better or worse, but there is nevertheless innovative and less innovative pop. Prince was a highly innovative artist, as were The Beatles, as were these German bands from the early 70s. Anyway, so much to enjoy. 70 years of pop records, 110 years of jazz, 1100 years of Western Art and Liturgical Music, and goodness knows how many millennia of World Music. And it is all on TH-cam!
Absolutely sublime.
Love this record. I think I've got this on vinyl or maybe my sister has it.
I have it imprinted on my memory
Best Neu track I think
So good!
1:53 Feels like The Killers' drummer Ronnie Vanucci was inspired by this making his drum fills for the Spaceman.
The influence of Klaus Dinger is HUGE
@pazansun9678 He was inspired by Moe Tucker, right?
brilliant
Even though Dinger and Rother are several years out of Kraftwerk here, I think there's some post-Autobahn KW influence that shows up on this track.
geile 70er Jahre Mucke, viel geraucht dabei...
Meravigliosi neu!!!
adorable
The joyous sound of young Germany…
Neu Conny plank ULTRAVOX ! /JOHN FOXX ! Fuck me this track is SOoooooo good !
The genius of Conny Plank. Systems of Romance is one of greatest albums ever. RIP Conny.
Auch eine im Zerfall noch geniale Band
This would go great in a documentary about the history of aviation
Try 'Spitfire' by Public Service Broadcasting. They're an English duo who overlay the audio of old public information films with hugely Krautrock-influenced music, and as the title suggests, the song's about the fighter plane. You're absolutely right that that Krautrock style works well with aviation
Esta canción me hace sentir liberado, feliz y esperanzado
Best record ever
it's like we just turn left to the joyful highway !

I want Wes Anderson to make a road movie that is set in 1990s Vermont during the fall that features this song during a montage sequence with images of a car filled with happy people traveling.
I went to college there in the 90's. Interesting visual.
bof
Perfect Shot in my mind!
Irrepetibles..❤
They should've called the song "tekitt isi"!
LOL
♫ ♥ ♫
Alles isi.
isi is short for isabelle/easy in the german language
Michael Rother's tune is even more powerful 40 years later. Proving what the German people really stand for: Human Rights. #Resist #WillyBrandt
Is it true that 'Isi' is short for Isabel or Isabella in german countries?
markkeogh18 Rother told Eno it was about moving water. Icheck the 2010 film on Heidegger’s poem on the river starring Hans Juergen Syberberg.

It's like your typical driving Krautrock but for Santa Claus!
Ehrliche Antwort: von dieser Band ist ISI das einzige Lied, das ich wirklich klasse finde

Reminds me of Mario Kart 64

Like Hallogallo on steroids.
Ethereal.
NEU the one Group from Germany. Better even as FAUST. Or CAN. Dinger and Rother.
Unreleased Wii sports resort track
Hallogallo with some Bollocks not a lot but some
