You gotta get yourself a faucet wrench. Way easier and cleaner (you don't mess up the finish) to separate a faucet from a shank and only cost a buck or so. My other suggestion is keeping some starsan in a spray bottle and hitting up into the end of faucets at the end of the night, it'll help keep crud from building up as much.
Excellent advice. I'll look into it for sure. I actually have starsan in a spray bottle (mainly from brewing). Awesome idea to spray on the ends at the end of the night. That will help keep any crap from growing in the caps. Really appreciate the comment and thanks for watching.
For those reading, forward sealing faucets require a longer return/close spring.
So, two and a half years in, how are the faucets doing? How many times have you replaced that forward facing seal? Perlick would suggest you replace the O-ring every couple months, depending on usage, maybe more often. Hope you picked up that faucet shank collar wrench. Lastly, for anyone who reads this and is looking for a kegerator, the inexpensive kits from Home Depot, Best Buy, etc, come with cheep quality hardware. Take the money you saved and buy good faucets and keg couplers (for commercial beer, homebrew conversions are easy) right away. There are 3 or 4 of these upgraded units in sight. With proper maintenance, they'll last you for years. My youngest is about 6 years abd oldest has 15 plus on it. Cheers!
I bought the same perlick faucet. However when I installed it, the existing spring does not push very hard against the ball seal because the ball seal is further out than the piston seal, so leaks if you don’t push the tap handle all the way back. Did you have a similar issue with your set up?
Thats odd. No, I didn't have any issues. Thanks for the input.
