There is nothing great with “respecting elders(or anything)”, respect should go to anyone who deserve it regardless of age, sex, race, religion or caste. Being old isn’t a character trait to be respected, (just like sex, race, religion, or even position aren’t by themselves respectable) there are bad people too who are old.
Blind respect and faith are more harm than good. I don’t have any issues with Kapils or Abhisheks actions, they’re doing it in love, but it’s just a gesture of tradition, nothing to be glorified, it can be problematic when it’s pushed as a norm.
