Watch as Steve Lukather plays through the all-new Luke III guitar in Ocean Sparkle.
The latest evolution of Steve Lukather’s signature guitar features an alder body with a figured roasted maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. The HH model is outfitted with newly designed custom Ernie Ball Music Man high-output humbucking pickups and the HSS model is equipped with the same, new bridge humbucker and also sports Ernie Ball Music Man’s renowned Cutlass single-coil pickups, providing players with amazing tonal versatility. Both pickup configurations are furnished with a 5-way switch and a 12dB boost push/push volume knob. The LIII comes standard with a super smooth floating Music Man vintage tremolo system.

Never tried a Music Man guitar before. Went to a local store, tried a Silhouette Special, took it home. Got lots of Fenders and Gibsons. Music Man beats'em all! Top notch quality. I just can imagine how great Luke's signature must be.
Most under rated guitarist, musician and song writer ever. The guy is phenomenal total musician.

gave in..... So just ordered one (LIII, HSS Bodhi Blue) for my 60th BDay present. EB/MM says it will be made for me (these are made to order - takes 4months) as they don't have one available. CAN'T WAIT!!! Come on June!
He has a beautiful touch on the strings... Each bending or vibrato thrills you like the first time you hear such a melody
As a proud and lucky owner of the Luke iii in Fushia Sparkle (which was the only one in the UK when I bought it hence lucky), I can say these guitars are incredible! A swiss army knife of the guitar world they can do it all!

I grew up in a music store. Owned pro close to 100 guitars over the years. switched to a Hss BFR L3 back in 2015. Haven't looked for another guitar since.
How does it compare to suhr. Neck feel and playability wise?
@@tomzeto completely different . the luke neck is small and compact. the suhr is closer to a classic strat.
Thanks Sam, what about prestige wizard necks? Is the Luke more modern and thin for faster playing? I’m looking mainly for comfort and speed, I really enjoy my prestige wizard thin necks because I have Vai like long fingers, definitely don’t like my strat and tele necks, and recall playing an early luke model in the 90s and the craftsmanship was amazing and felt fast, but a bit small with my 5’11 frame. the only other faster neck my friend and I have tried was a Parker fly which has been discontinued but never liked it’s tone. Suhr and newer Luke models are something I’d like to try but Suhrs are not carried by guitar shops around me. What’s your favorite neck to work with?

Steve always had a good combination of tone and technique. I first heard his playing when he laid down the solo on the Lionel Richie tune "Running With The Night", and I've dug what he's doing ever since!
Dude-that solo was Luke warming up and they so happened to record him doing so. When he was done they said: “Great!” and kept all he had done. He protested but they still kept it. One take. Amazing.

Got a HH Luke III Bodhi Blue since some years back. Damn that guitar is good!! Since I bought it all my other guitars has become dust collectors. Such a versatile guitar!

i had 3 lukes (1 & 2) it's such a beautiful guitar.... colors are awesome and sounds beautiful !! ... it would be so perfect with medium jumbo profile frets
I own the Luke 3 since 2013 and I'd say one of the key things about it are the low&wide frets. Medium jumbo are nice but the low and wide are perfect for the tiny neck I think

I'd love to see a 24 fret version of the Luke III.
That it is the only reason I would not purchase one - 24 frets on an electric guitar and electric bass are absolutely necessary, and when you're paying this kind of money for any guitar or bass, having those 24 frets gives more harmonic color options even though those extra fret options are not used as frequently as the mid-range, but they are still there as options on your palette of colors.

his technique is what you want to focus on. if you're a serious player you watch his hands very closely. ive learned so much im playing a lot like him now its amazing. find your own way that feels right try not to steal too many licks verbatim.
that's why guitar tuto are useless but they are just made to make some views > money

the music changed a lot after '89 and i guess he had to swim or sink with it, ie a harder rock style, but man i would love to hear him bust those wilson bros solos in one of these modern equipment clips, just one time

It’s an awesome guitar, period. I have no issues with a hum noise. If that’s a deal-killer, that’ll rule out a lot of great guitars and pickups…🤷♂️

To me, the MMs are definitely the best. I’m not an EMG fan much anymore. Too sterile? The DiMarzios are still really nice.

@@lukerao l have the Hazelburst Sterling, 100.00 off because of a blemish, installed a Transition in the ,gun stock oiled the fret board and neck and polished the frets. I tried to get as close as I could to the MM luke

Was there a falling out with Dimarzio? Why are the pu's built by EBMM now? If steve wanted something a little different Dimarzio absolutely would have made him anything he wanted? Just look at John petrucci who has been through 5-6 different dimarzio sets while with EBMM.

Probably not. You need a real deal Floyd for that stuff. A 2-point synchronized tremolo is a lot more subtle.
