Thankyou so much for this explanation on the identities for these owls, much appreciated. With this information we will be able to revisit this video if uncertain whilst observing on the 'Live' Stream.
👍 thank you for the update. I couldn't tell you which one's the cutest. They're all beautiful birds. I wish and hope the best for each and every one of them...🦉🦉🦉hoot hoot hoot.....
What a way to start 2021: Grete is male! I have been following these 2 siblings since their birth. A special thanks to Robert for his heroic efforts in caring for those magnificent birds. I am from Brazil and I had the opportunity to encounter some owls here. The last one was perched on a palm tree looking at the sea. Quite a view.
Thank you Robert, brilliant work! Your knowledge is truly stunning and I am very grateful you share it with us. I'm really happy to see your channel and the community grow!
How is Bomber able to join the internet from its stump and place a dislike to this beautiful video? :-) Thank you Robert for all your content and providing the fascination about owls and wildlife in general. We enjoy it every day.
Seeing the owl yawn is weird. It really makes you wonder what was the original animal that passed this behavior down to so many animals across entirely unrelated genomes. I wonder what that common ancestor that all us animals that yawn are descended from was like. Everything that yawns, from humans to birds, we all carry a genetic trait that was inherited from some animal that lived so unbelievably long ago. It’s the same thing with hiccups. Maybe there is some other explanation for the yawning, but I know for sure that hiccups were inherited from a sea dwelling amphibian that we all are descended from. That animal would open its gills and take in water when it’s blood needed to be oxygenated and we carried on that trait even though we don’t have gills anymore. When you are hiccuping, you are trying to take in water from gills that you haven’t had for hundreds of millions of years because you share the same brain stem as the amphibian that hiccuped so long ago. This phenomenon of evolutionarily useless traits being retained from far past ancestors is called atavism and it’s such an interesting thing.
Thank you for your channel and the information you share with us! To have a back and front yard of owls and wildlife is my dream again. I had lots of owls and other wildlife at my previous home. I miss the animals and birds very much
I think that owl is Finn! After Barney passed away, Gylfie was courted by several different males, but in the end she herself sought out and chose Finn, even though he was young and inexperienced as a parent. She must have sensed somehow that he is a gentle soul and would be a very diligent and lovely mate and parent! He is one of the kindest and sweetest owls you’ll see, it’s lovely to see him caring for Gylfie 🥰 They are a super couple now!! They’ve had several chicks, and they’re currently having 3 chicks in the elm stump that have just hatched on the live stream 🤗
I'm sure you're an owl expert with many ears of hands on research, qualified to give an opinion on the matter? You are bad energy, that is what you are.
@@solsticemeows no ears of research but if you watched the previous videos or the channel at all you would understand Solo was named for being the only survivor after all siblings did not survive. Usually he rings owls born there but I was guessing Solo not ringed because REF did not want to cause more trauma after all siblings were killed - feel better now?
I hope you've enjoyed the video!

I've been birding for 37 years, but I have learned so much watching these excellent videos Robert. Thank you and please keep them coming.
More to come!
Excellent, just what I was wanting to know. And its so funny how Grete is in fact male, whilst Hans is female!
Thankyou so much for this explanation on the identities for these owls, much appreciated. With this information we will be able to revisit this video if uncertain whilst observing on the 'Live' Stream.
Glad it was helpful!
RIP Barney, you will be missed

I'm obsessed with Howard! I love him!!!! 🦉🦉🦉🤎🤍🖤💛
So Grete is actually a Male. Interesting.
Another great video Robert!! 🙂 Really appreciate understanding the details about each owl to help us follow them better!! They are beautiful!! 🦉👏

How wonderful. My Barn Owls are snuggled in the nest boxes keeping out of the cold and snow today.
Thank you for taking us on the owl ID! So interesting and educational!!
Glad you enjoyed it!

So interesting the differences between each of them. Thank you for providing such specific descriptions of their differences. I'm enjoying it!!❤

Very interesting. Thank you for this nugget of knowledge.
I would like to see Ollie in your next video of identifying the other owls, as well as Ghost and UUF.
Great information! Thanks REF! They are just precious! Can't wait for the next video! Until then, I'll keep lurking on the live feed...
💞🦉😊
Hans pic is currently my Mobile Wallpaper. 😊
What a cool video! The journey of trying to figure out whether Hans and Grete are males or females has been a funny one lol
This kind of stuff can also really help with character design if you want to make something that's unique but also realistic to nature
I've learned so much in just this one video! They are so beautiful. Thank you again for posting them.
Thank you for your channel and the information you share with us!

Great Video! Now I can identify them better on the stream
Solo has a beauty mark!
Even tho she is a killer of her own sibling
Robert is firing out the content today. Good work💪
Thank you. No chance to see this in my country
Solo also has a preaty obvious line under her lft eye apart form the spot under the beeck
What a surprise, Grete (boy), my love makes no distinction of sex. So it makes no difference. Now we urgently need a name for the nameless one.

Superb video Robert, thanks. Answered quite a few of my questions.
beautiful
only a few months to go and I will help checking the nestboxes around my hometown. It will be awesome.
They are beautiful thanks Robert
Thank you Robert!❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
Great guidance!
Thank you! Useful, understandable and necessary information!
So Gyfie likes her partner with light silver trimmed facial disc owl :)
Thank you Loved this.
Lovely! Thank you so much.
I suppose one couldn't write a little initial on the top of their head with a marker? ;) Very interesting! The word that comes to mind is 'subtle'.
Lovely Video REF please can we have an update with the owls ID
Thats a great idea to introduce the birds we are following this year.
Thank you Mr Fuller for reply I think it will be so helpful
It would be great for a pinned comment with updates on the BO. Like, Drax didn't survive, did that unnamed owl get a name (is it finn?)
Sir can you make updated version of this video in 2022. Since there are new owls ❤️
th-cam.com/video/8ZvbohdAWyQ/w-d-xo.html Here is one I posted a couple of weeks ago.
очень информативно!
Good knowledge thank you 🙏🏾
Who is bl2
Nice one! Thanks :-)
I know that Solo killed her sibling.
I didn't know Grete was a male!
Would like to have a video on who is with who n so on thank you
Why did Barney pass away?
Not sure disappeared suddenly. Could have been a battle with the tawny owl off camera or maybe knocked on the road.
SRobert, why are some ringed on the left leg and some on the right? Is there some significance to that? Or just chance?
Usually this is random although sometimes it can be useful for example if there is a second brood in a year.
They all look like Liam Neeson
Did you ever think of switching Hans&Gretes names?
No!! It's so cute and it's part of their story! 🦉🦉
No not Barney 😭
I wonder if Solo wasn't ringed because of the nest trauma and you left her alone after.

GV87932 Male, he should be named Edward
love to
Was unnamed eventually named Finn?
I am hoping to do an updated identification of the birds on my live stream this year.
I think so - I was curious too! Finn has a band on the right leg and has the white feathers at the top of the facial disk, so I also think it's Finn.
Awesome want to see Jenny n Apollo if they have chick's together n willow n ghost too😅🎉😂😂😂😊
Their schmugler? Jak ten swiat wygladal przed 1000000 lat temu nikt juz nie pamieta
?
Let's name the unamed owl soren
The unnamed owl was Finn.
