Noriaki Sugiyama says he finds it hard to portray Sasuke, but imo no other voice actor can pull off Sasuke better than him! He portrays him so perfectly, like we can actually hear the pain, the madness, the misery, the anger, all the emotions. He is perfect for this role

Usually, none of the voice actors is acting up in real life, they are very reserved as per cultural traits. It is not unlike some northern European ethnicities. For example, PewDiePie has become famous for being theatrical, sarcastic, hyperactive and such but he is a "boring Swede" in real life (which can even be seen in his later viewers after he has gone to semi-retirement and cooled off).
Noriaki Sugiyama is so down to earth! I was surprised to hear him admit that he's not as cool or attractive as Sasuke. I mean, he seems pretty friendly and sociable to me, and that's what matters. I like how he acknowledges all the Naruto fans, not just the ones from Japan but in other countries too.
This video is from 18 years ago so I guess by now he has long done caring about being attractive but yes, you are right, it is rarely possible for voice actors to look as good as idealistic drawn portrayals. Especially due to the very fact that they went to work behind the scenes rather than on the screen so even by this precondition it is harder for them to match anime characters.
