  • A back to basics approach for a short series, practicing minimalism in rhythmic elements, finding a more steady pulse to build additional layers around, and focussing on smaller but rewarding harmonic payoffs over time - I want to find a space between emotive but still.
The PULSAR-23 and LYRA-8 are both acting independently in this movement.
The Slö pedal from Walrus Audio is a great texture maker when paired with the LYRA-8 and be heard swelling and moving over time.
The PULSAR-23 provides a steady and evolving pulse to build additional percussive layers around. I've been enjoying the noisy artefacts that appear as 'hats' and are based on the CLK output from the CLOCK module modulating voices (the clicks emerge when the voices are silenced). It also provides a foreshadow to the underlying rhythms at play in the 3 in-use modules on the PULSAR (BD, BASS, HAT). Hat is being pushed through its filter to self oscillate, pitching the note subtly before settling.
The LYRA-8 is providing harmony once again, but I've practiced working with more dissonant/opposing but complimentary layers with the 8 voices. Left 4 are providing a conventional chord voicing, and the right 4 are creating contrasting intervals - there is an intentional awkwardness at first which settles as the arrangement evolves. All voices tuned by ear.
