Perfect video, just replaced both front calipers , rotors and brakes on my 1999 4 runner for the first time and it's all because of you. Thank you so much for posting this video.
Hi Roy! I've never done brakes and calipers like the ones on my 1998 toyot tacoma prerunner. They are are way different then all the ones i have done on other vehicles. I want to thank you for this video. The way you explained everything was clear and simple. Thanks again brother aloha!!
One thing I'd add to this vid is, when you go to bolt the flexible hydraulic line onto the caliper, be aware that there is a tab or finger on front of that banjo joint that locates that hose on the caliper body. That caliper has a hole for that tab to locate in. If you don't set the tab in that locating hole on the caliper, the banjo fitting will no longer sit flat and the copper crush washers won't stop it from leaking. Line that banjo joint up correctly with the locating hole before tightening the bolt down into the caliper and life will be good!
Thanks a lot! Did just my caliper tonight and worked real good. Only thing was I bled my brakes from the nipple near the top of the caliper instead of the brake line
Uncle if I want to change my rotor and and caliper to the 15” size instead of the 16” on my limited 4runner. Would it work? I’m trying to fit 15” wheels that’s why
My 1992 4 runner has the front calipers on the rear side of the rotors (4WD) so the outside pad has the indicator on the bottom which is the leading edge. And I notice you flipped your hardware spring opposite of what it was before the job. Probably doesn't matter as long as the stay in and keep pressure on the pads. They're the same orientation as to what mine are.
Typically you want to do half pumps on the pedal before you start the vehicle, and bleed the brakes after you refill the reservoir. Other than that good video

Awesome video. Except that I bought calipers for 16 inch rims instead of 15 and noticed after I bled the lines and tried to put on the tire. 🤦🏼♂️

Your leading edge is on the bottom of the psd.
