    Sweet I am super excited for a Saturday morning jet ski video

      It's a little different and rushed... I realized after it was uploaded @2am, that I forgot to mention where I got the parts poop. I did mention it in an earlier video.

    That was a good video 👍 it will be interesting to see what you think of those parts you have installed

      I've wondered for quite some time if there was any noticeable difference in actual feel after installing either of these parts.

      @@JoelArseneaultTH-cam I've heard that running a top loader in addition to a pump stuffer is problematic because the stuffer fills the void in the tunnel that the top loader is trying to fill with water. Apparently scrubs speed and reduces efficiency. Maybe you can weigh in on that noise once you get some seat time in. Nice job friend 👏

      @@2_be_determined Thanks for that input. It's super easy to remove the grate, so I will try that out some back to back runs for sure. That actually makes a lot of sense ...
      Not sure if there's enough ride time this year to be able to test it out, so it may be next year. It gets really tricky to use fingers when the temp drops below 0º C 32F

      @@2_be_determined Calgary Alberta Canada. The videos that I'm editing for tomorrow and Tuesday are kinda crazy. It's warming up here this week to +20C 68F, but the day of those videos it was -10C 14F
      I returned my 5mm wetsuit as it was separating in places, so if I don't get a new one this weekend, I may have done my last ride as well.

      No problem. I hope it's clear enough. If you're just resealing your pump and have the shaft installed, it's pretty much the same except that it's a bit more of a pain because you have to slide the pump back off of the shaft and back on after you put the fresh glue on.

    Hi mate how's it going, that was very informative, would that work on other jet skis or are they different..

    • @JoelArseneaultYouTube
      @JoelArseneaultYouTube  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most newer stuff is different. They are usually much easier than this. The X2 and SX had the pump shoe glued to the hull as you see here. MOST pumps after these, Kawasaki, Sea-Doo, Polaris etc, you simply remove the cone from the rear, then you remove the while pump from the rear as well.
      A lot of pumps use an o-ring or seal and do no need any glue at all. They are MUCH easier to remove and work on. Lots of people go through a lot of trouble to swap the X2 pump out to another pump because of how hard they are to work on.

    How do you make sure the pump and driveshaft are aligned?

    • @JoelArseneaultYouTube
      @JoelArseneaultYouTube  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm sure that there is a special tool for it, but I do it by installing the pump onto the shaft and then holding it up to the hull. There will be play in the spline area, so once it is in place, holding the pump against the mounting area, I pulldown on the back of the pump, and then pull down on the front, checking the gap between the mounting locations. If this is not fairly even, then shim until it is.
      Most that I have seen are pretty close, but some require quite a lot. It may also sometimes be necessary, or beneficial to check and align support bearing. You don't want to align the pump to then find out the engine and coupler are not aligned and have to start all over again.

    Are both cooling lines metal or plastic on that ski? Some guy on my ski kept the original plastic cooling line and added a metal one for dual cooling, instead of replacing both with metal. Awesome vids btw!

    • @JoelArseneaultYouTube
      @JoelArseneaultYouTube  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, mine is the same. One original and one added. They both seem to work fine, if anything, on mine, I think that the factory one has more flow.
      Thanks for the comment !

      Doesn’t the factory plastic line stake from the pump into the hull. I don’t think it’s straight tubing?

      @@benselby6171 I'm not 100% sure as I've never poked anything through mine or removed one. From what I can tell it goes strait from the right side at the rear right up into the lower right side of the engine area. It may bend a little 🤷‍♂️

    What is a pump stuffer????

    • @JoelArseneaultYouTube
      @JoelArseneaultYouTube  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      HAHA... good question. I guess I didn't really explain either of these products. This video was quite rushed.
      The pump stuffer is supposed to do two things. It directs the flow of water to the front side of the pump causing less resistance and cutting down on turbulence. The stock X2 intake tunnel was poorly designed and caused a low pressure area around the drive shaft and a lot of turbulence. It also reduces the volume between the opening and the pump... I believe the theory is that the water is able to flow faster / supply the pump better.
      Most newer skis have better designed intakes and are optimized for flow and don't require this mod. The top load intake grate is similar in theory as it is designed to help direct flow into the pump. TH-cam viewer "Only 5th scale" has pointed out that it may not be ideal to use both of these things together so I plan on doing some testing to see.
