Dear Mr. Jagdeo: In the interview you stated that Mr. Su, your friend, is entrusted with providing the necessary logistic support that the foreign investor needed. Why is Mr. Su given the responsibility to facilitate Trade and Investment? He is not a Government Appointed worker. So at the very least, Nepotism is occurring. Mr. Su,who is a friend of Jagdeo was entrusted in liaising with Investors. He should not have been appointed.

I watched the full video yesterday ..Today I was talking to my folks living in Guyana about the content of the video and most of them have seen it.. and it’s sad to say but nothing will come out of this. The guy at the top is corrupt , nobody will hold him accountable unfortunately .. because that’s how the system is set up. Imagine everything was caught on camera and they’d still make a press conference to deny what is clearly on tape .

You'd be conned if you remove the context. VICE took Jagdeo's words out of context. If you watch the whole thing in its entirety, you'd find that Jagdeo gave well-articulated and nuanced answers to all of Isobel Yeung's questions. He explained things to her when she seemed not to understand certain things or did not have her facts all together. Isobel Yeung comes off extremely bad once you watch the entire unedited interview.
Its the same with your country leader, the diff is this one is just exposed due to political differences

Like why don't Guyana trade with America , Canada , The EU and Japan. Plus get some investors from those countries. To develop a country you will need to be the smartest. Trade large amount of Guyanese supplies and get foreign currency. In my days we learned that foreign currency helps to develop a country. And what happen now.

Bharrat Jagdeo has always been know for taking bribes but the Indo-Guyanese people who usually votes for his party as it is mainly Indo-Guyanese ignored his past. The 1st thing his party (The PPP) did was to do away with the bidding system for large contracts; they left him behind the scenes "approving' which contracts he wants and which to reject. As you can imagine this process is ripe for bribes as companies know if they want to do business they need to pay up or be kind of Bharrat Jagdeo who runs the government behind the scene. Sadly, ignorance is bliss and they (the PPP) will likely rule Guyana for another 19 years so it will not matter how much oil is found in Guyana, the country will still be one of the poorest in the world. Tribe/Race based voting only enriches those at the top while the bottom gets the illusion seeing those of their tribe/race in power but never truly directly benefits.

Sir, China dominating the world is not the concern of tiny Guyana. But did you look at the harm China has done to many countries in Asia and in Africa? They convinced the smaller countries to spend with lots of unaffordable loans from China for which China demands compensation when the countries cannot afford to pay. Small countries but bigger than Guyana.
Have a study of what has happened to Sri Lanka. They are now a disaster begging for loans from the IMF. Already, Sri Lanka had to cede control of land to China for 99 years.
Verify what will happen to Pakistan, a sizable country that China convinced to take loans that Pakistan could not afford but Pakistan itself is to blame for seeing only roses in the billions of dollars in loans. Pakistan had to cede control of the deep seaport that was built with Chinese loans and Chinese workers and now being run by China. There are outstanding loan repayment to China that Pakistan cannot meet but with borrowed money. Now its Middle East benefactors are no longer keen on helping Pakistan out of its misery. The IMF has placed restrictions on how Pakistan can spend the loans that took a while to approve - it cannot be used to pay China.
Look around and you will find more examples in the world that China has brought to their knees.
Guyana has found oil and, if the western press is to be taken at its word, the agreements you signed with western companies were notorious in the way you were cheated. But the fault lies with Guyana - because you should have sought experts that were not then available in Guyana as to how to craft the agreements consistent with the current transactions that were being exercised in the rest of the knowledgeable world. Yes, you have to pay for that but you get much more in return for Guyanese.
Now, you want China to build a dam and a generating station for electricity. Have you had this analysed by experts from the knowledgeable world - Guyana has no firsthand experience in this and so you need expertise that you have to pay for but can count on. Will China get their money back because of the oil that Guyana has just discovered or is the $1 B in loans that I understand that China is willing to loan you to be derived solely from the profit to be derived by selling electricity to Guyanese and power users?
When Sri Lanka went into failure mode, China was nowhere to be found for assistance. India is providing some assistance and has extended loans to them. I think since India has many electric power generating stations, you should at least have them review that plant for you. And conduct a cost benefit analysis for Guyana. Half the Guyanese are of Indian origin and many are of African descent. India has a good name in Africa and so everybody should agree with this. But, if you have already done this, my apologies.

Hi Guys. the problem is not the gov giving contracts to chinese, companys but the Gov looking for the cheapest contracts, and the cheapest will always be chinese,so I suggest the gov give contracts to American,Japanese, english, Korean, Brazilian and EU companys, the Gov can afford it now, and its the right thing to do. If it wasent for the Americians we would be in a dicitorship and a poverty stricken nation, as per previous Government.
