I think it'd be worth it for Casey to replace is GorillaPod periodically as he wears out the stiffness of the joints. Much cheaper than replacing the cameras as often as he ends doing. Plus I've found instead of keeping the legs straight when standing it up, bend each leg with a sharper angle so there is a bit of a joint and it doesn't tend to spread out so easy.

Why point the tripod legs out at an angle! Just bend them out a bit then directly and vertically down. That way I've not had the cam fall on me .....yet.

Casey from all the gear you buy every day - the least thing is a new bendy tripod I guess. These hinges get tired after a while and don't hold as good as the ones of a new Gorillapod. I have a bigger rig on this exact Gorillapod and it doesn't fall over, cause the hinges aren't as loose as yours. Just get a new one and you`ll be fine.

That seems to be rather common for the GorillaPod Focus - I've seen other TH-camrs having the same problem. Strangely, it's really only the Focus - I own the SLR-Zoom, which doesnt have that problem, but instead the joints get incredibly stiff after a while -.- Also, the SLR-Zoom is already supposedly suited for up to 3kg, and the Focus for up to 5kg - so that can't be the problem either.

The tripod he uses can support up to 5KG and the whole camera setup is less than 2KG pretty much.
