I just made one, the easiest cell phone holder ever, I made it in about 10 minutes. I just used rice and a little bit of stuffing. Thanks for the printable pattern.
It was Wonderfull! I made one for my husband and I taught to my stepdaughter to do one for herself and she is really happy with her plop...she puts her phone at any place...these are perfect presents...I am even thinking to make to my friends for the 14th of February. Thank you Rob!

I'll have half of my extended family Christmas presents done before St Patrick's day! UPDATE: Consider making one using laminated fabric for the kitchen: My sisters-in-law are going to LOVE them when they cook right from the web!!

susan berry the only issue with rice is...if you spill something close or on it, the rice will expand and become moldy. Poly pellets can be washed without any concern. I don't know if walnut shells can be washed. Hope this helped!

Great question! You could totally use rice, I would maybe make a special pouch to put the rice in, then put it in the plop. Even a plastic baggie might do the the trick in protecting the rice from fluids, and you could even add a zipper just in case it did get wet, you could change out the center! I hope this helps!

Lisa Lipkin an iron on stabilizer like Shape Flex 101 would make quilting cotton sturdy enough for this. MSQC carries it. I've used it to make little zipper pouches have more strength while using my favorite quilt weight fabrics, it makes it quite close to being like denim.
I really wish you could do the whole tutorial on how to attach the pieces. I hate the fact that you don't finish your projects. could you do another one with the hole project. Please..... Thanks
Out of curiosity, could you use sand? I can get play sand at my local hardware store, but the poly pellets might be a bit tougher for me to get in such a small city where I live. :) I love this idea! I may use some of my old holy jeans and reuse the material to make this!

Crushed walnut shells - could they be substituted with dry rice?

You can free motion quilt on this machine, yes. However, it is not strictly a quilting machine. :)

You could not cut it out first. Pin the pattern and stitch around the pattern and then cut the pattern out with ur seam allowance added
