my memory aint always the best... but I'm pretty sure when Ady played this on Searlings radio show prior to it being released as an anniversary single... he introduced it as 'Eddie and Ernie'... which makes more sense when you listen to the vocals on this compared to the 'Hytones' records... Fantastic tune, one of the best 'new tunes to the scene' in a long, long time ... whomever it is.
Morning Pauliejmd... I think I only know a couple of their other tunes... 'Bigger and Better' on Abet Records, which doesn't sound like this .. another great tune but without the gritty vocal... and their much covered up 'You Don't Even Know My Name' , played by Pat Brady as Lee Otis Valentine released on Southern Artists locally and got a national release on Bell Records... which I'm sure you already knew.. :-) Yet again a great tune, but to my 'cloth' ears sounds so different from the other two. Currently listening to The Continental 4 - The Way I Love You... nowt to do with this .. but a great record! Bye for now, Gazoor
Gazoor2004 I'm not one to doubt Ady. If he puts The Hytones on the label, that's what I'll post it as but you're right, it doesn't sound like the others you've mentioned. Could it be that they had different vocalists to take lead, like The Temptations. To me, David Ruffin is the sound of The Temps, when anyone else took lead, it just wasn't them. I think we'll have to ask Ady himself.
