1:53 This was one of my meemaw’s (grandma) favorite songs of that album. I never knew her cause well, she died in 1995. But my dad always told me about her. She was a great woman. Full blood Cherokee woman, who I feel like I’ve always had a connection to. I was 2 and was with my family in the car. We were at a red light when I said “Meemaw!” While pointing at a random lady on the sidewalk. Scary thing was, my dad never mentioned her yet. And she looked just like her. Then another time, when I was 6, I wanted to smell my dad’s beer as I was a curious child. I said, “It smells like Meemaw’s bread!” Because my dad told me she loved to bake. And he smelled it and it did smell like her bread.. So whenever I see this album cover or hear this song, I remember her and imagine her dancing while singing it. Even if I hear the song so faintly. It’s like she’s there. :)

I'm genuinely shocked how Fleetwood Mac's is probably one of top 15 most listened albums of all time and one of the most listened pre-2000s, yet their fame is mostly from the US. Also, biggie hitting the top twice is wild. No idea he was that popular. And it's interesting how post 2010, the stream hits were brutally higher - really shows how biased the people who use spotify are (they prefer newer stuff, as they're mostly younglings).
Yes, especially the last oart of your comment. I find it so sad how in my generation noone even gives 60s-90s a chance bcs they all just wanna fit in and its not cool to be different.

honestly surprised at the lack of hiphop in the 2010’s and taylor swift albums, and the appearance of world music approaching the 2020’s
hip hop took over in 2017/18
@@ricardo_miguel13 it did, became the most consumed genre on streaming platforms and the most popular genre in general in the US, the biggest country for music consumption, which is why its surprising that the only 2010’s hiphop we get is Post Malone, who wasnt even rapping on those albums for a majority of the tracklist
im pretty sure its bc she re released her music like if you go on her spotify theirs two versions of the albums
Well, Taylor took her music out of Spotify for a couple of years, affecting 1989 the most. And now with the re-releases, they're maybe canibalizing the streams too

Tears For Fears - Songs From The Big Chair for 1985. What a masterpiece of an album was released when I was born! Also, not to mention A-Ha Hunting High and Low also released that year. Take on me alone gets almost 2B stream alone

Its cool that all of these mirror the hit songs of each year that we heard on the radio at the time, its sort of a chronological order of every hit song, from the 2000's onward at least
It’s crazy that some albums didn’t even get 1 billion streams in the 60s. Nowadays every album gets AT LEAST 10 billion.

4:35 ofc this was. He’s the best
5:45 she deserves a grammy ❤
