You want to bring new players to your game while keeping the legacy players? Teach them how to do the things legacy players do and the basic fundamentals. There's no rewards for spending years learning things in t8 when everything is done for you.

Im assuming this was created BEFORE the Tekken talk, so I'll refrain from commenting what i WAS going to comment. But what i will say is this, "EVERYBODY complains until something happens that they want. Everybody will start playing again when Heihachi drops, then theyll start complaining again ESPECIALLY if your main source for checking the pulse of the tekken community is TWITTER, the most NEGATIVE place when it comes to EVERYTHING! Lol

Fr, like it’s twitter, what moonsault is showing us “evidence” is literally people saying that on twitter, when the new update comes out, people will start going back again and saying that the game is fun again, and then soon people will start complaining again!! Ok yes, some pro players are feeling tired and that’s fine to have some criticism, but the rest of the community is just saying that and then they forget
you have a point but we still have to count them. I'm a part of the statistic since i just unninstaled the game early this week. The good things in this game doesn't outweight the bad things imo.
its a great game, but you get tired from tekken 8.. theres something about the game mechanics that drags you down mentally..at least for me.. i follow fergus the asuka player and he grinds 5 hours everday. so this obviously doesnt apply to him and other die hard tekken players, but thats only a small number of players. if everybody else quits, the game dies.

somehow playing tekken feels so tiring either you win or lose, and ranking up is very weird.. it took me a while to bring myself from cavalry to assailant, but it took me 2 only days from dominator to eliminator (and im 1 promo away from garyu), and this is my first tekken game that i invest myself in. Matches are random too

One of the main reasons why you guys get so tired it is because of the heat system and how badly implemented it is.

20 second block pressure with chip damage worth 60% of your health and low heat smash to secure the round is Call of Duty ass game design. I remember actually learning other character's strings to punish in T7 and being hard stuck red ranks. Tekken Emperor in this game and I don't even bother learning what my opponent does. You're not blocking all this and getting a punish worth more than I chipped you.
You're performing better because of your prior knowledge, not because it's easier than T7. You grinding in T7 is what makes you play better here. I agree that the gameplay is too oppressive though.
@@MrPastige That is very true, but the problem is that I didn't have to actually learn matchups to get this far. Yes I know the basics, but at a certain point you should have to interact with what your opponent does beyond guess right more and DPS harder to be a top 10% player.
You never had to learn matchups. Once you play a strong character the game is ez lol. Always has been like that

They play top tier characters. The top tier characters are killing the game. No update and no nerfs for a very long time. It’s not fun having to play top tier all the time trying to reach god of destruction
"No nerfs for a very long time" you must have not played tekken 7 when even after 7 years it still had broken characters not addressed from marduk or geece having death combos. After patch 1.05 people regarded tekken 8 as the most balanced tekken game to exist. Before past games there were 2 categories "broken" and "unplayable/too weak " in tekken 8 arguably the only unplayable/weak character is devil jin.
Every other character is viable for high ranks when played well. Yes some are "easier" and have "more pressure" drag and nina are cited as the 2 most broken characters in the game. And guess what they're both getting a nerf next patch. They've pushed more balancing updates for characters out than tekken 7 has for a long time. It's why tekken 7 became very sweaty and hard-core to play. Tekken 8 leveled the playing field a lot to where it has the largest player base in just 7 months of release.

I keep saying these games need coop game modes like Tekken 6 Main Scenario campaign. The only reason you don't see it posted online at all is because you had to have two consoles and play on their trash servers, no couch coop whatsoever. I know so many people who would pick up fighting games again if we returned back to the Soul Calibur 2/3 era of ingame content. Fighting 1 on 1 24/7 is NOT a good business model and people at large do not like it at all.
This game came out with barely any content and the fgc lapped it up

I’ve not played tekken almost in 2 months now, there’s nothing to look forward too until the story expansion. Also I got tired of pugglers and OP characters with armor break and crazy chip damage. I think adding chip damage to tekken was a BIG mistake
My personal belief is tekken 8 oversimplified the gameplay as they wanted to hit a large audience and make it very accessible to beginners, now beginners are either gone or have graduated to intermediate players we'll start to see the shift of gameplay to be more competitively sound and more like "true tekken" see 1.05 and 1.08 for how they are kinda making this shift.
People have over 500 hours in this game and complain. That’s a lot of entertainment hours for the price. If you are bored move on to something else.
This isn't FIFA or COD, dipsh!t. The game doesn't come out every year. Games like this need longevity or they die. This is why we gatekeep the game from fake casuals like you.

The games to brain dead, I said time and time again to them as feedback don’t just appease to casuals and actually make difficult characters where you can invest time into, but most characters are so easy to pick up now that the game has become stale fast. They may have made tekken 8 but in doing so they absolutely butchered the soul of tekken in how they built tekken 8 compared to 7. They pretty much just said thanks to the true fans and then said FU guys in tekken 8 we’re gunna make this game not around the people that stayed loyal to the game and put time and effort into it.

Why would we watch something that takes no skill to do. Rank system is frustrating because of the point system. Still get nothing if you get rage quitted on. Everybody’s using the same 5 characters especially dragonov and Nina. It’s just corny now I get on for 30 minutes to an hour I get off think wow… that was more stressful then work lol.
Two arguments. Highest ranked players are bored because they’re maxed. Higher ranked players don’t like opponents who win because of strong moves. Seems the solution for both of these arguments are separate. What does calling out Mainman over a one and done ban (without providing context) have to do with this?
They need to actually give the fight lounge a reason to exist. Tournaments, events, treasure battle shit like from 4pm - 8pm is 2x speed/damage or whatever on the arcade machines, etc.

I stopped playing Tekken 8 since I saw tournaments won mostly by Dragunov. Even (at least) one of the finals was Dragunov vs Dragunov. If you really are Tekken 8 tournament audience you will feel the tournaments were not entertaining. It creates an environment where you must play Drag if you want to win in Tournaments otherwise you would lose. And from the new Heihachi trailer it looks like Heihachi is overpowered, which is another reason to not play Tekken 8.

To be fair, no one is playing tekken ball because you can only find people to play in the lobby. If the developers made a quick play option in the main menu, perhaps more people would play tekken ball.

Yup i quit bc they made it too easy. Went from struggling with my limited tools that I mainly love about tekken which made it tekken to just having everything and having enough frames so ppl can't ss. That's not tekken anymore. I missed hitting ppl with the correct tools knowing that move is gonna hit them. It felt more rewarding to me to play than to just frame trap, 50/50 em next

It's not negative to give criticism, it's how that criticism is delivered. Tekken 8 is how it is because they allowed absolutely no criticism during creation, and now can't take the actual criticism they should've taken to begin with, to prevent this.

Bandai needs to straight up start paying people like Lil Majin to compete in TWT, the void keeps getting bigger and bigger and the new players are not entertaining/good enough to fill that void especially in America. I think the real issue is not having a life balance while enjoying the game. If you only play the game and nothing else than of course you are going to get exhausted, but if you have multiple things you do outside of it than it makes it more enjoyable.

The "unga bunga stance 50/50 mixup" style of gameplay is just not very fun to play against or use yourself in the long-term. The Heat System is also very suffocating, especially when combined with some characters having Install mechanics, which seems redundant when the Heat System exists. It is very easy for matches to go from a matter of "who can outplay who" to "who can pop Heat the fastest and overwhelm their opponent to win".
Changing the mechanism that made T7 successful is just an absurd move from Bamco , Its like adding Counter Strike super powers and expect that players still want to be competitive.
You had a great game in your hands and you went over the top with T8 instead giving the people what they really wanted, Is just the same game with better graphics , characters , and moves , thats it .

You know what did it for me? I installed a mod that completely gets rid of any and all rank rated stuff during ranked. I don't see promotion/demotion, I don't see my rank, I don't see my opponents rank, I don't see my progress. It's all gone. Ranked feels like quick match to me. I have absolutely no stress playing.
This^^^. For me, I have an alt account where I just troll (I mean by playing for fun). I can try all characters without anything to concern.
Then just play quickplay? I'm genuinely confused, why do ranked but want it to feel like QP?

Been saying it since a few weeks after the game came out. Overly aggressive game design killed 8. You need godlike reactions to really get high uo because half the players you face just slam their face into their controller but through chip and the abundance of 50/50s they're rewarded.
bring new players that will play the game for a week max and drop it permanently. OG fans and fighting game players also leave. achieve nthing.
Yeah I agree they need to make more modes. Both single and online multiplayer. Tekken 6 is one of the examples due to the fact that it had more to offer other T7 or T8. If they can do that, maybe it’ll be something different.

T8 will be THE ONE fighting game with insane marketing bullshit but the lowest playerbase.
Caring for new players is good but telling Hardcore fans from the T1 to T8 we don't care about you in ways like dumbing down characters, Heat System, Rage, Easy combos does half life, and a Super bad Ranked system, Not to mention adding a Battle Pass that is straight out robbery, THEY DON'T CARE about already existing faithful fans they just want to make Money that's it.
I have never, not even once, seen a newer player say "I'm glad I can beat better players with powerful moves"... If anything newer players usually complain that they can't even play the game because it's just 3-5 seconds of neutral until someone gets swept or launched... You know it's over when the denial kicks in.
Tekken Force and Team Battle could probably make the game more fun and give players a different option to play other than 1v1 matches
Add bowling, but imo it will be played for a little bit and drop off like tekken ball.
As fun as Team Battle sounds, the implementation is easier said than done. It's already hard enough getting a stable connection 1v1, now imagine trying to seat other people in the same match -- because obviously y'all want online team battles. It's simply not viable, especially since si many people insist on playing on wifi.
If SF6 could allow new player to get into the game easily but also have a level where not just some random can touch willy nilly then Tekken 8 should not have excuse to actually do things right.
Also ranked in Tekken 8 does not feel satisfying for me personally due to most of the time I have to try to overwhelm the opponent (not mind game, not back and forth defend, or even a plan), it is mostly due to if your opponent get a turn then You have to defend against insane 50/50 upon 50/50 upon another 50/50 + jail frames therefore even if I try to learn spacing, executions, hell even ranking up twice does not do anything for me in Tekken 8 as it is almost like not my achievement at all. Compared to me gaining Diamond rank in SF6, it is such a far different experience like at least in SF6 I'm learning more and more of each match and interaction while Tekken 8 (I don't even feel to do sidestep becuz there will be always that 1 dumb move completely lock you down regardless, so there is nothing new to learn or adapt or even try to understand the game plan)
If I may, most players quit tekken when they get to a certain rank. NGL, no cap, Im quitting tekken when i get to Tekken King. Climbing through purple ranks was fun but annoying because i delt with pluggers and rage quitters. However Blue ranks broke me. when i got to FUJIN for the first time, my mental anxiety went ape shit. RAJIN, KISHIN and BUSHIN, a nice amount of fighters will use macros or plug. Idk how many times I had a fighter plug on me when I side stepped a rage art or dodged a certain move of theirs. It is a headache sometimes. My original stopping point was Purple ranks but I kinda lost motivation for God Of Destruction.

I don't mind the balancing of Tekken as much, i can deal with the aggression. My main problem is ranked, people can rank up way too easily from one and doning all day shamelessly. And as you said, they need to count plugging as a loss and give you your DAYUM POINTS!
I almost thought I was gonna peak at Tekken Emperor due to a lot of flip flopping with promos and demos. But I surprised myself with Tekken God. I think I can get God of Destruction.

tekken ranked is 1000 times easier on the mind than MOBAs are. you spend an entire 30+ minutes easy just to lose a game and go down massively in your rank.
fighting games are fun mechanically enough and do not waste your 30 minutes for all hard work to go to waste.
3 minutes of hard work and failing, is less miserable to think about than league of legends.
im not condoning toxic rage quitting, im saying that rage quitting shouldnt be that easy to commit in fighting games, and people should be tougher mentally on this game.

I am a newer player. T7 was the first fighting game I was into. This was because it was very different and purposeful, with some opponents that were impossible to hit. I liked it and wanted to be one of those unhittable ones. It is gone here

They need another mode to play and earn Tekken coins for skins then fix all the issues and bugs and the game will finally be out of its alpha state. To be fair the Tekken Talk didn’t even address all the issues like the disconnect rage art bug do we know when that’s going to get fixed?

This is easily worst tekken since Tekken 4, but it only took T5 few years to come out after T4 disaster. Sadly for us this trash is expected to last a decade:(
And as such, it will receive support and patches changing the game for that long. Last patch of T7 was fundamentally unrecognisable from T7.0. Chill out.
Oh, by the way, T5 launched on console with egregious balance issues that could not be patched. 'At least it wasn't T4!' isn't a high bar, sorry to break it to you.

Sure they fiddle with this and that, changing move's property and juggle count (I was playing it even in arcades) but core tekken was there.
T8 on the other hand feels more like Soul Calibur than King of Iron Fist...to put it simple, they went too far.

Duh i became a plugger due to connection instability, see im from a sanctioned company and i have to play via VPN, FML.
but the experience is aweful and i get one match every 30 minutes or mayb none at all,. if i do, its a match with fkn HIGH PING which just ruines my every motivation to play ranked.
so i plugged outta my final matches and quit playing online.... this is my most favorite fighting game franchise of ALL time... but im just unlucky that this is how i play tekken 8 online....

Possible solution: the ability to turn heat off in ranked, this can be a part of the selection process, like when you change the level of players that you play against. They could include a option to turn heat off. There should be a difference in rage attack when your health is low. I am forgetting the name of that one now. But
But the heat attack that you can only use when your health is low is not as bad as the ridiculousness of heat itself.
Play rank after the fixes it will stable your mentality
It’s so ironic because I been saying this since before the game released. All I heard is “ tekken has to change, bring in new players” etc. I even mentioned how tekken 7 did it right and still was the highest selling tekken, all I heard is “ stays the same it will die” now look at the state of the game. No one wants to play. I went from playing everyday to once a month if at all. Just ironic to see my sentiment expressed months later when I’ve been saying this. They went too far with the changes, cater too much to new players etc. we rather watch a knee or arslan play, not someone who can now only won based on broken mechanic because the game punishes the players who have good defense. And saying defense is now offensive… that’s a joke to me.
They tried something new, and it's not going as well as everyone hoped. It's only been 6 months and they're clearly listening to player feedback so just give it time.
Though, despite all the hate, I think this has been the most fun I've ever had watching competitive Tekken....up until it was all Drag all the time. It may not be the most fun to play all the time but I believe they certainly succeeded in making it visually entertaining.
@@Shade84 I’ve seen games fix issues faster. The response to fans just isn’t that good in my opinion. Not to mention that’s not for everyone. I hate watching tekken 8 tournaments. For me tekken 7 dragged because you had two players accessing each other and tactfully trying to take the other down. Tekken 8 just seems like a boring slug fest. Hence players who never was able to beat top players being able to do so now. As we see that’s what they wanted, however I think that’s bad for the game. It doesn’t make me want to play it at all, and that’s coming from someone who played all prior tekkens. I don’t enjoy watching, I don’t enjoy playing it. And as I stated before, they tried something different with tekken 7 with the rage drive. Something not so drastic, tekken 7 was a huge success. I’m just not someone who enjoys “ offense is defense “ it’s like an excuse to not learn to defend. I can’t enjoy watching that.

The system is broken, I’ve fought and know some players that are TGD that have no business being there. The rank system is way too forgiving and should be adjusted.
When you reach certain ranks, Heat and Rage arts shouldn’t be available, forcing you to play more classic Tekken in those ranks.
I think heat and arts should work like rage drives and arts, but they allow both.

I dunno people has picked up on it, but it has happened what you said long ago. Even tho Heihachi looks cool I’m not as excited now because all dlc characters has stances now and super simplified . So looks like all dlc characters will come with a stance.

Designing games for the lowest common skill denominator in any game genre is a bad idea, but sadly developers are addicted to this practice and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight to the amount of series it's going to ruin.
I'm new to Tekken 8 and have absolutely no idea who the developers mean by “new players”. I've only been playing for 3 months and the game just isn't fun for me at this point. I really enjoyed trying to read my opponent, playing mindgames, trying to learn new things. But all I meet on my ranks (red-purple) is spamming one move, armor, and endless plus hits. I'm trying new characters, trying to find fun in the game, but increasingly I'm coming to the conclusion that if “real Tekken” exists above the Tekken King rank, to get there I need to mash, mash, mash and try to do it faster than my opponent.
Is this a fighting game? More like a competitive clicker with unreal engine 5 graphics for $70.

This is why MK1 is a much better game than Tekken 8. Because not only the Ranked system is way better (proper point system and legit proper dealing with pluggers) but it resets every season, so you always have something to do with Kombat League. And also in single player you got Invasions which alone gives you MONTHS and YEARS of content, and MK1 just got the Towers of Time back. Tekken 8 however has NOTHING, all the single player content in it can be finished in just one month, and then it's all online with cheaters, pluggers and horrible Ranked system.

@@PythonDelta LMAO it never fell off of anything, MK1 is PHENOMENAL. Tekken 8 however sucks donkey balls, and SF6 isn't that much better either. I've seen people complain about the Ranked mode in SF6 also, because of the qualifying matches which were set to make it easy for casuals to rank up, just like T8 with the Heat system.

This game goes the same route as CoD did and there punishing ppl who understand Tekken in general.

tekken 7 had full combo from down jab, teleporting, unseeable grab mixups, and a bunch of other wack stuff that made people beg for tekken 8. tekken 8 is a new game, and everyone is busy being mad at how different it is rather than embracing the new mechanics. if you don't want to embrace them, i understand, but seeing the constant crying is annoying to me because i think most people are overreacting.
people gave up on tag 2 because they thought the game was broken and janky. Now, over a decade later, people are praising it for being balanced and well made lmao. let that be a message for those who want to overract to a game that isn't even 1 year old yet.

Don't be fooled. They DO want growth for their game(new players etc), but it is also to make the game more exciting to look at. The average person thought the game was a snore fest to spectate before T8. I know the community is REALLY complaining at the indignity of losing to a supposed noob. The unfiltered truth is that good players lose to noobs because because of gimmicks. Learn the game better and stop complaining about it. Now as for not having fun you're entitled to your opinion. And THAT IS something the devs will be forced to address in one way or another.
I left Tekken 8 the day Eddy Gordo dropped. Not being able to lab against DLC Characters for free is the dumbest thing on the planet. If they ever change that, I'll come back.

Its simple. You shouldn't have to practice for 3 months straight, and then a nobody comes along and rocks you after playing for just a week. New players dont stay because the grind in tekken is impossible and these catch up mechanics are furthermore making it pointless because you loose after training hard. Its counterintuitive design.
I think this goes beyond just making the game easier for newcomers, I'm new to tekken ( Im older than the franchise but Ive never owned a PlayStation until this year) I was prepared for a "hard" fighting game, not one where people can cheese their way to a red rank with only 3 or 4 inputs snd risky gameplay that prioritizes aggressive play
So far the only character I can progress with is Drag and I think I know why: he' s able to punish this risky gameply which forces other players to stop spamming. I should not be able to use reverse vault clutch 3 times in succession fer f's sake
Ranked isn't fun because it feels unfair. You often lose more points than you win after playing 2:1 against a HIGHER RANKED PLAYER. On top of that the gameplay is too oppressive. You launch your opponent once, win one single oki 50/50 situation and the round is done. At least make it so that Heat Smash doesn't wallsplat or wallbreak or floorbreak etc. so that people have to actually earn their combos and not just randomly press their Heatsmash which is plus on block anyways and get rewarded with a full combo with little to no risk. When you Heatsmash close range it's unsteppable so you got 0 reasons not to do it. It's ridiculous to lose a around against that after overall playing the round way better than your opponent.
Only people who lives and breathes this game feel this way. Regular people are happy. Touch some grass people.
Games don't need to be designed around professional players constantly winning as much as they did previously. It's T8 not T7, play it accordingly, everyone playing has the same tools at their disposal so quit whining. Idiots quit their day job and think the games should be catered to them. We all spent the same $70 or whatever. Get over yourselves.
Ranked is fun as hell if you're competitive. Just take breaks and/or lab. A lot of these people are not taking breaks. lol
