One super interesting thing about this, the root note is 60 hz, the frequency of any electrical hum connected to the North American power grid, so Solar Fields was really smart in making this sound like more engaging electrical hum ambience
A couple days ago I was playing VRchat with one of my friends and just for the sake of it we looked up if there were any mirrors edge maps made by the community. Turns out there were. We jump in and when we spawn, we are taken away by the scenery and this song playing in the background. It was one of the most amazing experiences I've had in VR.
I wish Mirror's Edge was more about this. Freely running and parkour with this kind of music. Just pure ambience. No Cops, No broken fight mechanics, no annoying "chase" parts where you are being gunned down while under pressure of not knowing where to go... Just the ambience, and only the sounds of your footsteps to keep you company.
That damn chopper chase through the scaffolding. I spent about 30 minutes before figuring out I had to 180 at one point where there was also a path that looked like it led somewhere but was all dead ends. That was the moment I had the same exact thought as you did.
@@VEC7ORlt Yeah, I get that... but Catalyst didn't have the same atmosphere that this one had. In which the atmosphere of this game is what drew me in to picking it up in the first place
What you are stating about chase sequenced is a lie. None of them are annoying, I was never confused where to go during any of them thanks to runner vision and great level design. To anyone who are reading this comment section and want to play Mirror's Edge 1 for the first time - do it and don't worry. It's a great game, it's not hard and those chases will be fun.
Any one remember that gmod parkour map? Mirror's edge soundtrack and source graphics blend so well together! This game is a timeless masterpiece, my brother has it on hes pc and sometimes i hop on to play, i always enjoy the experience from this game.
Nicely put man. i imagine me and my crush looking over an empty gleaming city, not knowing if it ever ends :P truly a vast and powerful soundtrack that means something different to each individual.
I love this game. I just can't put it into words. The amount of feelings that this game and aveeyrhing about it stir up in me... it's something only I can feel. I love this game, man. I wish I was 15 in 2008 instead of being born then :(
This was a first-person game where you run past the shooters (or disarm them), as fast as you can, instead of just dropping NPCs one after the other with a gun. It was absolutely revolutionary.
Very interesting take on this song. I hadn't really considered that until now, but I can see what you mean. It feels kind of like the "calm before the storm," where all you can do is anticipate what is about to happen. I still think it is pretty calming though. Almost more like soothing white noise then a song, really, and I'm totally fine with that. You don't really have to think about it; it just... is.
Everyone, I've created a new term: DIB DICE. IS. BRILLIANT. I've realized that throughout the history of dice, they've almost always created experiences of the highest quality: Battlefield, Mirrors Edge, and so on. I think dice is the model game developer (next to Behtesda :D)

@DehOtherGuy I think what you mean is Magnus Birgersson is brilliant. he is the genius behind this stuff. dice did come up with the game, but definitely not the music.
@TheWeirdcrap I have done parkour before, and I still want to do it. But I always feel like I'm too busy :( Have you seen Inception? The limbo city deep down in Cobb's subconscious is close to this feeling Also, google "empty city SpiRyu" and the first result is pretty awesome too! Have you heard of "lucid dreaming"?
you can just loop it, on pc press right click and press loop, and on mobile go to video settings, additional settings and then loop video, im not sure how to do it on tv tho
I hate to disagree with everyone, but this kind of makes me feel uneasy. Like there is inevitable bad thing about to happen, that is why there is no emotion, because there cannot be anything done about it.

Solar Fields made this? Love their stuff. I fall asleep to their tracks almost every night.

Mirror's Edge had the best ambient music., along with Portal 2. One of the very best I've played.

This music perfectly accompanies the speed and chaos of the rest of the game.
