  • CBI Raids 67 Locations in Odisha Over Fake Certificate Racket for Postal Recruitment. In a significant crackdown, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday conducted extensive raids at over 67 locations across various districts in Odisha, including Kalahandi, Nuapada, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Bhadrak. The operation involved more than 204 officials, comprising 122 CBI officers and 82 personnel from other departments.
These raids aim to dismantle an interstate organized gang supplying fake certificates to candidates of the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Exam.
The raids stem from a complaint filed by the Director of Postal Services, Bhubaneswar, after discovering 63 candidates with forged 10th pass certificates during the verification process for 1,382 GDS posts. The online application process, launched in January 2023, required candidates to upload certificates for verification. In line with the Bharatiya Janata Party’s manifesto, all four gates of the Puri Jagannath Temple were reopened to devotees on Thursday. This significant event took place during the Mangala Alati in the presence of the Council of Ministers.
The gates were initially closed during the Covid-19 pandemic. Post-pandemic, only the Singhadwara (Lion Gate) was reopened, while the Ashwa Dwara (Horse Gate), Vyaghra Dwara (Tiger Gate), and Hasti Dwara (Elephant Gate) remained shut. This partial reopening led to overcrowding and long queues at the Singhadwara, prompting devotees to call for the reopening of all gates.
Reopening all four gates was a major pre-election promise made by the BJP. Ju unist hours after taking his oath as the new Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Majhi chaired the first cabinet meeting and made four crucial decisions, including the reopening of the temple gates.
