Did you guys know when this film came in 1995 it broke all records and it was the biggest hit of year.
They met when her father let her take a European vacation and they fell in love. Her father made her go to India to marry the other guy so he went there incognito. This is basically an engagement party where the boys and girls tease each other. The other girl is the grooms sister so kind of like a bridesmaid. One of my faves!! Definitely watch the whole movie, the song will mean so much more.

Yo Nick. Yo Jodi.. ssup :) Nick is right. The old songs are more modest and lyrically beautiful while the newer songs have no lyrical value and it's skin show mostly. Coming back to the plot.. The red girl likes Shahrukh but Shahrukh likes Kajol (the girl in green). Of course he can't show his feelings for a specifc reason so he is subtle.

This lyrics of this song sound very sweet and innocent but they allow for an alternate interpretation. When SRK keeps telling the girl in green that her lover will come to take her away, only the girl understands that he is actually referring to himself, and not to the man she is being pressured into marrying.
This song is still popular at weddings 30 years later. In this context the girl in green is being pressured into an unwanted arranged marriage. SRK is the girl's true love. He has crashed the party and is using the song to tell his lover that he will rescue her from the situation. The girl is the only one in the party who understands what SRK is actually saying. She tells him at the 715 mark to shut up that is enough, because she knows why he is here and does not want their secret to spill. He acknowledges her, which tells the viewers that he has been communicating with her all along using the songs lyrics.
In the movie some family members eventually get the wind of what is going on and tell the couple to elope. But SRK insists that he will take the girl away only after convincing her dad, who is vehemently opposed. That connects to the title of the movie, that those whose heart is full of love will eventually win everyone over, and will take the bride away.

Youi are right, SRK is singing to a girl in green (Kajol) but pretending to sing to another girl because Kajol character is about to get married to another guy. You have to see the movie to be able to understand the song.

The female reviewer is complaining about the missing translation, but she has already understood what is going on. Yes it is confusing but SRK is actually singing to the girl in green, and they are already committed to each other though her dad is vehemently opposed. So yeah its forbidden love. The girl in red does not know that he is off the market and is hitting on SRK who is pretending to be just another guest at the party. At the 715 mark the girl in green tells SRK that that is enough now stop pretending and just keep our secret, and he acknowledges her.
The point of the song is not to make the girl in green jealous, but to tell her to be ready in her bridal finery because I am the one who will take you away with me, not the guy who has been arranged for you. That is what SRK is saying, that her lover will take her away with him. It is deliberately left unclear to everyone in the party that it is SRK who is her true lover, not the guy who is arranged.
Dilwale is a poetic term that translates roughly to those who have a big heart, as in those that are very kind and loving.

I see no one answered the question asked. Dilwale means of "people of big heart". It's not a straight up translation but it as as close as it can get.
Yeahhh, u got that right. This is the pair of Bollywood. People might argue different pairs from different era but this is THE on screen pair that defines Bollywood. Bollywood is pre DDLJ and post DDLJ.
I gotta tell u...there are shitty lyrics throughout Bollywood from all eras going back to 50s till now 2020s. The issue is the shitty lyrics with good beats are now permissible whereas to become a hit song, u need to have good lyrics with good beats in this 90s era. There is where songs shine the brightest and they become timeless ❤
People had a bit of an issue with the female playback voice being a bit older than the female character in the movie. I personally don't care abt it and so does most of us. Lata Mangeshkar who was an Indian legend singing songs from late 40s to 2010s, she was absolutely amazing but there was a thing that the singer is 60-70 yr old giving her voice to a 20-22 yr old girl which was found to be distracting for few people, especially the ones who are listening in current generation or foreign reactors. It seems a valid criticism but frankly we don't really care abt it 😂

Girl in the green and guy in the black are engaged because her dad wants her to be. Because it's their engagement they are staying seated while everyone is partying. Kajol is in love with srk though and he loves her so he is flirting. The girl in the red is the groom's family member who also likes srk
