I went to a Piñata workshop today and we made a sombrero but we only decorated it. I would love to learn how to make Pinatas like yours from scratch because I would feel more fulfilled and proud. My late father was from Guadalajara Jalisco Mexico and I don’t ever want for my children and grandchildren to forget where there roots are and I want them to learn about their heritage. God Bless you!💐🌸🌺

Does anyone know the person who sitting in front of the altar? It seems that she is not part The Piñata House but is interviewed to expand on the history of piñata making.

These women are so miss inform of the history of the piñata. This is not the traditional way of making the piñatas! Piñatas where made from pottery and covered with colorful tissue paper and have seven points. There is no other piñata in the world like the Mexican Piñata. This new thing with cartoon characters is new and making them with recycled cardboard to me is not hygienic and unsafe, I wonder if the recycled carbord was something that was picked out of the trash by a druggy I wouldnt put children candy in there. Last year I bought a piñata and it was made from recycled calling card and cereal boxes only God knows where this recycled cardboard was stashed away. Also it was very frustrating to see the children unable to break the piñata, they are cover with big STAPELS and hard cardboard that I was afraid that from hitting the piñata staples would pop out and hurt one of the kid’s eyes. The worst Piñatas are those that use plates as decor or use gift wrap. People please have respect for the Piñatas Art and tradition. Want to learn about true art of a piñata go into the towns in Mexico and talk to the artisan makers.

You are correct, this is the lazy way of making Pinatas.
The real Pinatas are made with bamboo for the frame and they used news paper, flour with water for the glue. AKA paper mache.
