You like it or not the truth is there is no alternative for BJP. All these opposition parties are family owned businesses and people don’t trust them. We need a strong opposition party who doesn’t compromise national security and fight on real issues like education, health and development . All opposition parties are pseudo secular and don’t believe in real issues but more interest in issues like communal sensitive. I am really hoping to see a new honest and hardworking opposition party where any eligible person can become CM or PM without family background.

38% voted for Modi in 2019 and 62% didn't, that is 24% more, so what do the people of India say? The current system doesnt fully give the mood of the nation. In a state like UP in which BJP got 50% vote, in that you can say what people want. But with just 38% you cannot say that. "Ranked Voting system" is needed to get a better opinion of the people.

@@1994arup Read my full comment, current voting system is not good, never was and never will be in a multi party system. Ranked voting system can give better results in showing what people want. BJP may still win but they are not the first choice of 62% of the people who voted.

I think at present comparing BJP with Cong is like comparing Milk with Desi Daru. They both have different characteristics, benefits, consumers and most importantly overconsumption of each requires different set of treatment. Either somebody who is Water OR with Different quality of Milk or with alternative of desidaru can be a challenger. There is one fault in what Mr. Kishore said that BJP gets 38% votes or roughly 50% of non-minority votes so rest votes can be gathered by Congress. The issues is that 38% vote is not uniform across seats. When it wins Loksabha seats specifically in North India, West India, Bengal , it gets 45% + vote and when it loses in places where it has minimal inflence then it gets 10% or below 10% votes like Andhra, Kerala, TN etc..

BJP got 2,29,05,474 votes in West Bengal in 2021. Vote share 37.97%. Number of seats : 77.
TMC got 2,89,68,281 votes in West Bengal in 2021. Vote share 48.02%. Number of seats : 215.
As compared to 2019, there is a decline in BJP's performance.

It hurts to listen to this discussion. We talk about defeating BJP as if it is the ultimate goal to be reached. Gentlemen, there’s a country to be run after winning the elections. If a crowd of parties with different ideologies is expected to pull the nation with unison is so difficult to imagine. Mamata, Kejriwal, the Commies, the DMK, KCR…… It’s a very worrying scenario.

Very doable, and much needed dear PK. If you can put it all together to defeat the BJP at center in 2024, hats off to you. What's going to happen will be a repeat of previous coalitions, after the emergency, after 1989, after 1998. The mahagatbandhan was a decisive failure in 2014, they tried again in 2019. They are trying again in 2022... or future. All if not most of, these regional so called leaders are ex Inc...they left Inc because of the gandhis....and made their own turf, while they enjoyed seeing the gandhis lose everytime....no one needs to be naive on this subject,except the gandhis. With so many "leaders" who left Inc in revolt and made their own regions a stronghold...can you imagine what kind of politics will play to become PM, FM, DM or any other central M? For that all need to study and understand how coalition governments were successful or unsuccessful in the PRE INTERNET ON PHONE Era... it's absolutely insane to talk about pre internet Era politics to today's. Only 1 example...the center wants to send a person his or her pension...these elders do not need to stand in que many hours and many times, pay a commission, to get their pension fund in hand....it's now going to their jandhaan account.

PK is overrated, disoriented, perhaps confused and a bit desperate.
Result of next election can go in any direction is a fair theory. Momentum gained by BJP in the recent elections will place it ahead of all it's contenders, with perhaps a few exceptions, is a better argument. BJP realises that delivering wellfare and communicating with the mass alone can win the elections. Election is more about organising and little about rhetoric. Organisers toil every day and oratory starts just before election. Voter and groups always bet where their interests are secure, based on evidences and perceived potential of a political party, and not for the ideology and policies etc.
PK realises that he is already past his prime because all his arguments, methods and prescriptions are consumed by various political parties with reasonable success. Data, analysis, history, analogy are just armchair task with basic skills. Leadership, track record, potential, endurance, trust, charisma, mass appeal are real assets in politics.
Where does PK score? Next role for him would be to watch from the side lines. Think tanks have short shelf life.
