    Little tip, get one of those valves that you lower the whole bag on to attach it. Then all you have to do is lift it up over the planter and open and shut the valve to fill it with seed. More control and no spillage. Love this channel.

    • @SauronsLeftNut
      @SauronsLeftNut ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yeah but isn't the reason he's cutting bag is because has no machine to lift high and far enough, adding something to bottom of bag will increase the problem.

    I really appreciated the up close of how the seeding takes place. It helps me understand better what you contend with during this time.

  • @gopher8310
    @gopher8310 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    What you need for your seed is a probox with a slide. We get seed in those tote bags and then just empty into a probox. From there it’s a lot easier to control And you could do everything with your skid loader and pallet fork.

    I make sure I carry an adjustable wrench and a piece of wire (coat hanger type) on the drill tractor. Sometimes the seed treatment has clumps in it, sometimes a bit of straw can clog a boot. No use pointing fingers, just get it going and get it planted! Great video!

    For extra height to lift the seed totes, you could put a couple pieces of 4 x 4 or 4 x 6 on top of the forks. Great videos!

      Could also weld some two square steel tube together and make a pallet. Get a sheet of marine grade plywood or ¼" plastic with a hole in the center to put on top.
      Only problem is, once that bottom flap is opened, it can't be easily shut.

    Cut a hole in the center of a pallet, then use your forklift and the center spout. How we used to do it. That gets your forks at the bottom of the tote instead of the top.

  • @williambell868

    Hey Eric, this might be a dumb idea but what about using a commercial vacuum to vacuum up the seed from the totes and have it discharge into the drill hopper? Do you ever do soil tests in the Fall before applying manure? I read that phosphorus availability will increase more than was applied after manure in Fall. I guess you would have to test Fall and Spring to test whether that works in your soil.

    good method for loading up the seeder. I cringe every time I see one of those big totes being lifted by the top straps.
