Most people in Japan would like to stop wearing masks, at least in the open, but they are afraid of other people's judgment, so they wait for other people to take their mask off first. So no one is taking their mask off, which means the Japanese people will keep wearing masks for many years, maybe decades. Bill Gates is very happy about this, no doubt.

Although it is not required by law to wear a mask, stores and companies require it.
