"SO" consists of history, geography, religion, etc. We basically take a few weeks to read about one of those subjects, and then have a test on it. then we move on to the next subject.

I'm in England where we have GCSEs, like this. You have to take Maths, English Language, English Literature, the sciences, a language, and Geography or History or even both. Then there are many other optional subjects.
To this day Im grateful for Covid because if it wasn't for that, I actually would've had to sit for my GCSE's. I wouldn't mind doing everything else, but I absolutely SUCKED at maths to the point that if it wasn't for my grades getting higher because our class couldn't do our GCSE's I probably would've failed. In the end I got a 5
IDK if it’s my schooling being different but this was all like 6th-7th grade for me. By 16 (where I’ve read through the comments this is meant to be taken) my school generally taught precalc for on-level students or for me multivariable calc.
In high school I was always utter shite at Maths, but a lot much better at English. I use maths in my every day life on railways, trying to calculate averaging speed, water intake, you know, all the good stuff haha.
