- This second chapter covers the snowflake free trail edition self registration process including the cloud provider selection, region selection and editionvalidation via legacy/classic web UI.
Chapter #2 of the snowflake beginner's tutorial covers the Snowflake free trail registration process in detail. When we work for an organisation, we get a pre-defined setup and our exposure is very limited to explore this tool and that's why it becomes so important for us to do a self registration process and understand how it really works and what all matters when selecting the underlying cloud providers, regions, edition and pricing policies.

You can go to their pricing page and receck (www.snowflake.com/pricing/) .. may be for some region, they may vary..

yes.. you don't need to worry about a cloud charges and with snowflake account it comes free.. but if you host data separately in the cloud outside the snowflake, that will cost you..
The free trial edition is completely free for 30 days or 400$, whichever happens earlier.

If you are using the new Snowsight.. the warehouse (compute) comes under admin menu and you may not have access to it..
you can run a command called show warehouses;
@@DataEngineering After signup, I see Worksheets, Dashboards, Data, Marketplace, Activity, Admin, Help & Support. UI is different, where can I write above command to show warehouses, can you please tell?
In the pricing page, what does the cost per credit imply ?
for standard 1 credit = 2$
for enterprise 1 credit = 3$
for business critical 1 credit = 4$
you can check your edition and identify, but your organization might have got a different credit billing.
Is there any Creteria to choose the cloud provider?
1. if your organization is already using a cloud , then you would prefer to use that cloud environment,
2.or next if your team has awareness about a specific cloud environment, then select that.
3. or if confused, then choose AWS as all the latest features of snowflake are added to AWS first..and then applied to other cloud provider after few months.

Yes.. the Legacy WebUI is now disabled with free trial edition, you need to jump to next chapter where Snowsight webui is explained.. that also has changed a lot.

Error: SQL compilation error: Object does not exist, or operation cannot be performed.
Before you use the keyword "use", those object must exist..
in newer version there are only 2 default databases which are snowflake_sample_data and snowflake (no demo_db thats why the error)
Hi, After registration can we change cloud provider?
No, cloud provider & region can not be changed, however you can change (or upgrade) the snowflake edition to higher edition (like standard to enterprise) but for that you have to contact snowflake support team and not possible via WebUI

Yes, this video was published last year and Snowflake is now promoting new WebUI and if you have created a free trial edition, you will not see the old WebUI. So you need to skip this chapter and go to next chapter that talks about Snowsight.
I think Snowflake credit cost depends upon both Cloud providers and region.

No... all the WebUI look same... it does not depend on underlying cloud platform.
