  • Here is a complete guide on the rear naked choke, where Vince 'The Anomaly' shows ways to defend and escape, as well as adjustments and ways to finish the choke. Whether it's BJJ or MMA, this is hands-down one of the most common submissions, so make sure you're well-educated on the RNC!

    Love these BJJ videos! The MMA program at my gym was canceled because we don't have a grappling coach anymore. Grappling days were replaced with open mat, but there's only so much we can learn without proper instruction. I was finally able to pull off the D'Arce a couple of times after watching last week's video, and I explained to my partners what I'd been doing wrong the whole time. It gave us something new to teach each other. Keep up the good work, Shane and Vince!

    • @VinceCachero
      @VinceCachero 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's awesome!! I'm glad you were able to hit it. I like to hit the d'arce from side control and passing the half guard. I have a few different setups I'll have to share at some point.

    • @soapy12331
      @soapy12331 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Would love to see that! I do have a hard time getting a secure front headlock though. I can get my partners in a turtle position quite frequently, but most of them know how to grip fight and go for my headlocking arm. The arm-in guillotine is hard to pull off if the front headlock isn't in deep, and their grip fighting puts their hands near their neck, which blocks the path I need to shoot in for my D'Arce

    • @VinceCachero
      @VinceCachero 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eric Xu if you can’t secure the headlock, I would just move to the back. Especially in MMA you can throw strikes and force their move. If just grappling, work to get hooks in and take the back

    3:05 I do it a little differently. I like to loop my left arm to grab my right shoulder, too. Then, I set my chin on my left forearm, so that they can't pry the back arm out. From there, finish by pushing your elbows together. That's my way.

    Another great defense that worked for me at least once... If they are using their right arm to choke you, elbow strike their right side fast and with power a few times... Their liver is there, their ribs are there... I used it against a dude who tried to choke me while standing up... Im not sure it works on the ground...

    • @gingercore69
      @gingercore69 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Follow the howl good point, but the guy trying to choke me couldnt hold me after i smashed his ribs in... I dont know if it would work for everyone, but i know i could not keep choking someone if my liver and ribs get that much punnishment

    • @VinceCachero
      @VinceCachero 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That can work, but it will be a lot harder on the ground and if the person is trained I would gladly take the elbow strikes to the body to work on an unprotected neck.

    Im a boxer, i do pretty well at counter punching but ive been working on putting the pressure on my opponent when i get them in the corner or ropes i can keep them there for a while until i get slugged by something. I can usually just eat the punch and keep putting on the pressure but obviously it's nicer not to get punched in the face whenever possible. Any drills to practice keeping defense and head movement in mind while fighting close and aggressive.

    Vince, I've seen a few times where people lock their legs similar to how you would for a triangle choke (right leg around opponent's belly, and left knee hooking over right foot). From there, they can hook the opponent's left arm with their left leg to get it out of the way. What are the advantages/disadvantages to using that method?

    Hello Shane, I need some tips on how to fight off multiple opponents at once. There are these bullies at my school as they have been picking on multiple kids but they only do it in groups of 5 or more, and they have started to try and pick on me, but I'm not gonna stand around and just take the beatings please let me know. Also keep up the great work man, love the videos

    • @D_A_M-091
      @D_A_M-091 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know this is 4 years old, but I just wanted to come and say... NOBODY can fight off 5 opponents at once. That's movie stuff, man. Unless they take turns, and you're more skilled than each of them. It's just not realistic. Your best bet is to go balls out super aggressive on one of them. You could pick the best of the group, to try and neutralize him, taking him out of the fight... Or the worst of the group, for your best chance to reduce their numbers, and maybe shock them... enough to delay the gang beat down you're gonna eventually receive, no matter what. Because there's no way - I'll say it again, NO WAY - to take on 5 opponents at once, regardless of their level of training or skill, and win. It's impossible.

      Good observation. Yes that's certainly an option for Shane to continue attacking but if I get my shoulders and upper body over his opposite leg, he can't throw it over for the armbar. Also since I'm controlling his arm with both hands, it will be hard for him to grip me for the armbar. It's doable, but he will have to break my grips first.
