Ollie is definitely pushing the boundaries of her singing abilities here and that's exactly why to me, this is even more impressive than any other Hololive girl's song. I mean even if you're a natural at singing and had tons of training like Calli, Watame or Suisei, you still need to fight your own insecurities to actually release something. But for someone like Ollie, whose main gifts are in other areas, this takes some serious courage.
But even regardless of that I think she pulled it off really well. It fits her character and added a new spin to the song, while also emphasizing Ollie's qualities as a singer. I love the raw energy it emits.
I'm aware that it was a group effort, but it clearly shows that Ollie put a lot of thought into this, found a really fitting song to cover, gathered a great team around her, gave her heart and soul to perform the song in the absolute best way possible, and then brought up all the courage she could and actually published it, putting her trust into us viewers.
In my opinion, she absolutely succeded into creating something genuine and amazing. Is it flawless? Certainly not. But it's not just "a song cover that Ollie made", it's a mile stone of the incredible progress she made since the beginning of the way, a manifest of her determination, and an unique piece of art that stands out, that's out in the world now and will be remembered. At least by me. Ollie can be proud of herself, my respect for her grew today.

I think her singing ability is way better than she makes it out to be. She obviously did amazingly in this song, and if it wasn't for the lackluster mixing, it would have made her voice sound less like she was singing by herself, and more like she's singing with a band. I think during the chorus the backing track should have been boosted a lot more, it would have pulled the entire thing together. Either way, she did absolutely brilliantly.

I do hear a bit of autotune outside of te rapping part, but I honestly don't care. I am seriusly impressed by the amount of personality and atitude she puts into this song
@@phoenixeye4610 There's quite a bit of aggressive auto-tune, but it honesty works here. Tbh almost anything and anyone can sound great with the right amount of editing/auto-tuning. But imo Ollie's voice and manner of speech are quite unique, though, and i don't think anything would change that.

Honestly, I think the voice cracks make the song *better* more than anything.
Ollie sounds like she's really putting her heart into it without caring about appearances or glamor, and what that gives us is a performance that feels very genuine to her personality.

Grunge is all about being unpolished, so the voice-cracks and the little vocal quirks that are usually treated as flaws instead add character to the song and make it more genuine to Ollie's personality.

I feel like the instrumental is too quiet compared to Ollie's voice and it feels more like a karaoke, the cover is still cool tho

I get you. I think it's because the backing music was quietened during the chorus parts, which makes her sound like she's singing in her bedroom. It has nothing to do with her voice, it's mainly the mixing and the soundtrack that was used and it attempted to make the voice stand out more, when it did the opposite. The other parts of the song, I think were amazing, but since the main chorus is the part that sticks out the most, we are all drawn to pay more attention to it.
i kinda feel like thats why it works? it doesnt sound clean and professional which is pretty on brand for ollie- the voice crack only adds to that and lends to the passion and energy, it doesnt sound "good" and thats why it is good- kind of like why people like grunge/indie rock and why mr brightside is the quintessential 1am night out song.

i know nothing about music but i’m dying for a re edit of this cover, i dont mean the animation but the instruments supporting her. it doesn’t suit her voice at all the volume and everything, it makes it sound like she recorded this on a phone and put it on top of the instruments carelessly. ollie sounds SO good, but the editing of the instruments (again).. does not suit her voice. i think they could’ve done a way better job to make ollie’s voice and the instruments goes along well with each other, but clearly they didn’t.

Yeah... not a fan. Between the bad mix between vocals-music and the her voice cracks and seem really over the place, specially during the "Hey Kids" part (which actually hurt my ears. Not joking) I can't say this is a cover I like.

The fucking confidence she has in her voice is astounding. Her voice in all honesty, is not what would conventionally be called good (Assuming this is her actual singing voice and not her stylizing which she most likely is), but it fills a niche that's hard to fill. The closest thing to it I can think of is the lead singer of Shinsei Kamattechan, whose voice I really really like (Listen to Ruru's suicide show on a live stream he's great in that song). Great job

I honestly think the mix is pushing down the quality of the cover, Ollie's grit is fine for the song but I think Tokyo Terrace Music Production's lack of experience in cover shows in most of their recent cover mixes. Timothy Alv is a very good artist but I think his prices for covers reflects his lack of confidence for vocals mastering. The instrumental lacks power and the vocals are way too loud compared to the rest. The music video is far better than the cover in itself which is sad :/
The roughness makes it twirl and raw emotion makes it melodic. She's not great for now, but she'll develop for sure.
