I've had the honor of playing trumpet with Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons in the early 70s. Frankie is one of the greatest pop rock singers of my generation. He still gives me inspiration every time I hear him. perform. Additionally the four seasons were all very fine musicians & entertainers. "Great Job Frankie, God Bless You," John Stefan
There's no way he's lip syncing. Look at his neck, throat and adams apple. Every muscle is straining. That is 100% Authentic. That man is a MF***ing legend.
Wow! What an experience to have been onstage with them in their prime! I noticed you also played with a bunch of other legends - I'm sure you've got stories. I'm curious how the Four Seasons' harmonies were when they performed live. I have some high-level experience in that area and know how tricky it is to blend onstage, especially when playing instruments. Hope life continues to be happy & healthy for you!
Where are these comments coming from? Yes, the man had a great career with songs that stand the test time, but look at this video. He seems practically catatonic, and if you think he is really singing, I have a bridge in London to sell you.
Frankie Valli is up with my all time favourites. Can’t get enough of his music! What a unique and soulful tone, However can’t help to say it’s slowly tearing me apart seeing him now..
This man is 90 years old and still performing, sure he had to take a break and let the bandmates and audience sing the chorus second time, but for him to travel and perform at his age is absolutely remarkable!

Of course it is lip syncing. It's not hard to tell. However, unless a "live" performance is actually live, and not synced, it should be advertised as a "re-creation of live performance" or, a "live facsimile". To call it anything else, is wrong and shouldn't be encouraged.
God has really blessed this legendary performer. If I could have lived anyone elses life, this man would be one of the top contenders! Still going strong at 90!

It was ridiculous how same it was and everybody thought he was lip-synching. In this one, I believe it was professionally done And you can see his Adam's apple move up and down.
Been a fan since the late 60s. But the TRUTH IS. lets be honest....he looks awful, and sounds pretty bad. He doesn't smile, or even blink his eyes....obviously he needs the money. Think there's plenty of Xanax on board.

89 and sounds great. And what a thing for him to hear the audience singing the chorus. The key change was flawless and no sound of hoarseness or bowing of the vocal cords. Terrific!
If he IS actually singing this and not lip syncing….I am truly blown away by this. Even if there’s some live pitch correction…the software doesn’t really work unless you’re still REALLY close to the note.
I had the Honor of making a portable Circuit Breaker box (floating) and multi gang outlet for his charity event concert in Adelphi Academy on 86th st Bay Ridge Brooklyn and was made to plug into a 50 amp 220 volt plug, (I'm sure Adelphi probably still uses the floating panel today And look at Mr. Frankie today -- Still Going Strong!!!!
Friend of mine saw FV yesterday at Mohegan Sun. Said he surely lip synched and at times just stood there and gazed out at the crowd. He’s 90 - maybe it’s time time to retire.
I have been a Frankie Valli fan since the 60's. If he does a show in my area, I will go to it. But he is lip syncing. Singing demands breathing, neck and facial muscles, and an open mouth. He show none of those -- without which he could not produce the sound we hear. A couple of years ago he did his last studio album -- A Touch of Jazz -- which would have been auto tuned and in a very controlled environment -- and none of the songs sound anywhere near this good. They were all very slow renditions with no vocal gymnastics at all. In this video you can see bits where his lip sync is slightly off -- but he has mastered the art after a couple of decades. I give him props for doing a couple of hours at his age.
God bless this man, 90 years old and still on stage preforming at such a high level. My Mom was the same age but just passed I February, miss her so much. He is truly amazing!
I just watched him on November 12, 2023 in San Jose. The best concert I’ve ever been it was the greatest and I wish them the best. I don’t know if he’s gonna last much longer but I was privileged to be able to see him in concert
You don’t actually believe that’s him singing do you? He sounds like he did when you were a kid because this is probably a recording of him from back then. Clearly lip syncing.
Saw this guy in Vegas, and he was lip synching. When an audience member called it out, he ripped ass into the mic. Put his hand down the back of his pants, farted again, smelled his fingers….and yelled, “Hey you paid for this”. Then sharted, staining his polyester pants. Epic night.
Yes, he is a legend, but it's time to call it quits. His live performances are pre-recorded from way back when. He was great in his day, now he's a caricature of his former self. 4:03
First I want to say that I think Bob Crewe and Bob Gaudio wrote _Can't Take My eyes off You,_ one of the most beautiful songs ever written... I see there's some debate below about whether Frankie is lip syncing or not. Well, it's obvious that he is. Even if you ignore the fact that his mouth doesn't match up, the voice doesn't match up either, it's just young and perfect and doesn't even sound like it's in the same room as the instrumentation. Anyway, most of me wants to cut Frankie Valli some slack here, as he is, God bless him, almost, what...130 years old? But the picky singing enthusiast in me wanted to hear him really sing it live. So I looked for clips back several years ago. 2014? Lip syncing. Surely not in 1982? Lip syncing. Finally as a guest on a TV show called _Lulu_ (never heard of it) in 1975, he's singing live, and sounded just fine. I wonder why he started syncing? Laziness? I have no idea. It disappoints me because I saw Sinatra three times, and at 78 he just let his smoke and booze gravelled voice hang out there for all the world to hear. I admired him for it and thought that it sounded great -- you could hear all the whiskey and cigarettes, triumphs and tragedies, oscars, heartbreak... it was "the voice of life." When his memory started slipping, he unapologetically read the lyrics on a teleprompter, and there was nothing wrong with that....What finally prompted him to retire was that his eyesight started failing him and he could no longer see the teleprompter.
Frankie Valli had a medical condition in the 1970s that caused him to lose much of his hearing. You can actually see him in a video holding a device in his hand to help him to hear. I think it was because of his hearing challenges that he handed much of the lead singing in the Four Seasons to Gerry Polci ( who sang all the lead vocals in Silver Star for example). Frankie had an operation that restored some of his hearing, but it could be because of his 1970s hearing issues that he found it difficult to sing live after this. A few singers have been able to sing live even at 80 and sound reasonable, e.g. Leonard Cohen, John Cale, Buddy Guy, Mavis Staples. Paul McCartney's voice is quite aged now, but I think many years of smoking (he's now quit) have played a part in this!
@@johnwoods2736 Well, that would be a valid reason, thank you. It's restored my faith. Frankie Valli has always been a favorite.
