imagine: just by looking at his picture in your phone's screen, you could feel him sitting right beside you. the plane was yet to soar through the dark obsidian skies, and yet you had already begun to miss him. you were about to let go of your only best friend and a life where you had messed up terribly. it was a point of no return, and what you did could never undo it's damage. right now, redemption meant leaving the destruction you did in his and your lives because everything you would do would only make things worse, as if you were a bad luck charm. how would he feel, though ? would he be happy at his best friend leaving ? would he be sad and lonely ? would he act as if he remembered nothing or that nothing ever happened ? the questions in your head were tearing you apart, and a small unconscious tear slid down your cheek, which made you feel worse. this should have been easy. this shouldn't have been the worst part. the worst part should have been to see him cry. to see him, your dearest friend cry because of you, but no, you were crying out of your own self pity. all of a sudden, you heard a small 'beep' sound from your phone. you clicked on the notification which had come, which led you to your texts. the text was from jungkook, your former best friend. jungkook: even if you leave or try to avoid the pain, its okay. i know you have to. but you cannot leave me. you'll still be my best friend and i'll lose you to nothing. jungkook: no matter how much time passes, i'll be where you are, whether you can see me or not. i'll be there, still with you.

You nodded and continued walking down the sidewalk. Jungkook following you. There was complete silence. You both wanted to say a lot of things to the other one..but nothing was coming out. You were shifting out cuz of your father's job promotion and you were really sad about leaving your best friend back. Before you could even protest they were already gone in the crowd. Sighing, you looked around the decorations amazed and admiring it. *POV:* A cloud of dust exploded in your face as you pushed open the attic door. It had to be years since anybody had been up here. The only source of light in the room came from a clouded skylight, the early morning light covering the room in a soft grey glow. The sound of rain was even louder here, the drops pattering noisily against the ceiling. You batted the air in front of your face to clear away some dust (even though it did absolutely nothing) and started to look for a book or something to keep you busy, since you couldn’t go anywhere with the weather like this. You dug through the mountain of dusty and forgotten items, opening and pushing boxes aside to look for any source of entertainment. When you pushed aside a particularly large and heavy box, light spilled in. You had uncovered a window. The new light made the room much brighter, exposing all of the tiny dust particles frozen in the air. It was a bit eerie, but kind of comforting at the same time. On the windowsill slick with condensation sat a small glass vase containing some long-dry flowers, and next to the vase sat a small wooden music box. Hm. Something about all of this was so familiar, but you couldn’t place your finger on how. That music box though... you picked it up and used your sleeve to wipe away some of the damp dust. It fit perfectly in your hand, as if it was made for you. The box had intricate red carnations carved onto the smooth pale wood, and you realized that they were the same flowers as the wilted ones in the vase. So familiar, but from where? Curious, you wound it up. When the haunting but sweet melody reached your ears, the memories rushed back. ------- It was years ago. You and the love of your life had sat on this very windowsill on a rainy day, but you weren’t told why. “Okay, now you can open your eyes.” You did as he said, and was surprised as he held out a small vase of bright red carnations. “Oh, they’re lovely!” you exclaimed, taking the vase and stroking a soft red petal. “Yes, they are.” You looked up at his melancholy tone. “What’s wrong?” He wouldn’t meet your eyes. “Jungkook, look at me.” You turned his head with your hand, and gasped when you saw that his doe-like eyes were wet. “Oh, no, I’m so sorry. He pulled away from the hug, and it was as if a part of your soul pulled away along with him. You felt a small weight on your lap and looked down to see a small wooden box. A music box, with red carnations carved on it. "I carved it myself, and wrote the song inside," he said in a voice hardly above a whisper. "I hope whenever you listen to it, you'll think of me and remember how much I love you." "Jungkook... don't leave me..." you whispered. The carnations underneath you shook as your tears plopped onto their petals. "I'll never really leave you," he smiled sadly. "I'll stay with you through the music box." That really broke you. You sobbed and buried your face in your hands, letting the tears run through your fingers and wet the already damp carnations. When you looked up again, you were alone in the attic except for the vase, the music box, and heaps of boxes. He had left. You sniffed, trying to blink back more tears, and took the music box in your hands, winding it up. ------- The brown petals of the dry carnations shook as droplets dropped on them. You looked up, looking for a leak in the ceiling, but realized that it was you who was crying on the flowers, not the sky. The music box slowed to a stop. You wiped your cheeks with the back of your hand and held the music box higher so you could see it better. You found that it had a little golden lock that you hadn't noticed before, and could be opened. Burning with curiosity, you undid the lock and flipped the lid open. It had the same gears as any other music box, but JK+(Y/N) was carved on the inside of the lid with a heart around the initials. You choked out a sob and held the box close to your chest. When you did, a small folded slip of paper fell down towards the windowsill. Your eyes widened and you grabbed it before it could touch the condensation. What was this? You set the music box onto your lap and unwrapped the slip of paper. Written on it in neat lettering were three words. "Still with you." *Thought I'd add my share since everyone's suddenly a writer. Bit disappointed, sad, stressed, anxious, self critical... and somehow you managed to find my one comment and decided to reply. But, yeah I’ll take up on that offer. It’s long tho and, well, feel free to not read it. There are small things like how I don’t want to go out with my dad(I live with my mom) even tho ik I should bc it’s probably the anniversary to a grandparent’s passing. I wish he’d hate me so I don’t have to feel guilty about not loving him as a daughter. Then there are reoccurring thoughts like “I should stop being lazy,” “why haven’t I grown?,” “I’m lost.” I get self critical and sometimes I can pull myself out, but other times I just really need someone beside me to give me hugs and reassurances. Another year passed without any big accomplishments, and I hope I won’t forever be like this-not exploring, not trying, not pushing myself hard enough, not getting out of my comfort zone. If I could choose, I’d rather have a dream and passion rather than being smart. What good does high grades do when I can’t even take a step forward into any direction in life. I’m stuck choosing what to do. And that kinda goes on to the next one: future. College is coming soon and ig big changes like that cause some stress too. College, career, future... responsibilities and having to figure things out myself bc my mom doesn’t know much since she wasn’t born here. All of these things just make me feel down. Tmr I have to go with my dad for a bit... idk if I’ll even have the energy to and just thinking about possibly meeting my relatives who I’m not even close to makes me anxious already. I’m tired. Yet the world doesn’t stop just bc I’m tired, I’ll still have to power through anything I need to do. School is coming soon too and I’ll have to manage then too. Before you could even protest they were already gone in the crowd. Sighing, you looked around the decorations amazed and admiring it. When suddenly your eyes fell on a certainly similar looking person. He looked a lot similar to someone you knew. A handsome young boy in a emerald green suit. His hair was in a bowl cut. He was talking and smiling with a few older people. Then suddenly you looked at his wrist and spotted the same bear bracelet you gave your best friend as a promise memento. Your eyes widened. It was him. Your best friend. Your bunny. Jungkook.
You kept on staring at him like a dummy and he suddenly noticed that. Looking up at you he furrowed his brows in confusion but then he heard you saying 'Bunny.' His mouth parted a bit and he looked at your wrist seeing a bunny bracelet.
'Muffin.' ; he said as he gave you the same bunny smile.

*POV:* A cloud of dust exploded in your face as you pushed open the attic door. It had to be years since anybody had been up here. The only source of light in the room came from a clouded skylight, the early morning light covering the room in a soft grey glow. The sound of rain was even louder here, the drops pattering noisily against the ceiling. You batted the air in front of your face to clear away some dust (even though it did absolutely nothing) and started to look for a book or something to keep you busy, since you couldn’t go anywhere with the weather like this. You dug through the mountain of dusty and forgotten items, opening and pushing boxes aside to look for any source of entertainment.
When you pushed aside a particularly large and heavy box, light spilled in. You had uncovered a window. The new light made the room much brighter, exposing all of the tiny dust particles frozen in the air. It was a bit eerie, but kind of comforting at the same time. On the windowsill slick with condensation sat a small glass vase containing some long-dry flowers, and next to the vase sat a small wooden music box. Hm. Something about all of this was so familiar, but you couldn’t place your finger on how. That music box though... you picked it up and used your sleeve to wipe away some of the damp dust. It fit perfectly in your hand, as if it was made for you. The box had intricate red carnations carved onto the smooth pale wood, and you realized that they were the same flowers as the wilted ones in the vase. So familiar, but from where? Curious, you wound it up. When the haunting but sweet melody reached your ears, the memories rushed back.

It was years ago. You and the love of your life had sat on this very windowsill on a rainy day, but you weren’t told why.
“Okay, now you can open your eyes.”
You did as he said, and was surprised as he held out a small vase of bright red carnations.
“Oh, they’re lovely!” you exclaimed, taking the vase and stroking a soft red petal.
“Yes, they are.”
You looked up at his melancholy tone. “What’s wrong?”
He wouldn’t meet your eyes.
“Jungkook, look at me.” You turned his head with your hand, and gasped when you saw that his doe-like eyes were wet. “Oh, no, I’m so sorry. Whatever I did-”
“It’s not you, (Y/N).”
“Then what is it?”
He sighed. “I’m moving.”
You gasped again. “Where? Is it far away?”
He nodded.
A single tear fell onto your still outstretched hand, and you withdrew it to stare at the droplet. Suddenly, the carnations didn’t look so bright anymore.
It was a goodbye gift.
"I don't want you to go!" you burst out suddenly, pulling him into a tight hug.
"Me neither," he said into your shoulder, hugging you back hard. "But I don't have a choice."
He pulled away from the hug, and it was as if a part of your soul pulled away along with him. You felt a small weight on your lap and looked down to see a small wooden box. A music box, with red carnations carved on it.
"I carved it myself, and wrote the song inside," he said in a voice hardly above a whisper. "I hope whenever you listen to it, you'll think of me and remember how much I love you."
"Jungkook... don't leave me..." you whispered. The carnations underneath you shook as your tears plopped onto their petals.
"I'll never really leave you," he smiled sadly. "I'll stay with you through the music box."
That really broke you. You sobbed and buried your face in your hands, letting the tears run through your fingers and wet the already damp carnations. When you looked up again, you were alone in the attic except for the vase, the music box, and heaps of boxes. He had left. You sniffed, trying to blink back more tears, and took the music box in your hands, winding it up.

The brown petals of the dry carnations shook as droplets dropped on them. You looked up, looking for a leak in the ceiling, but realized that it was you who was crying on the flowers, not the sky. The music box slowed to a stop. You wiped your cheeks with the back of your hand and held the music box higher so you could see it better. You found that it had a little golden lock that you hadn't noticed before, and could be opened.
Burning with curiosity, you undid the lock and flipped the lid open. It had the same gears as any other music box, but JK+(Y/N) was carved on the inside of the lid with a heart around the initials. You choked out a sob and held the box close to your chest. When you did, a small folded slip of paper fell down towards the windowsill. Your eyes widened and you grabbed it before it could touch the condensation. What was this?
You set the music box onto your lap and unwrapped the slip of paper. Written on it in neat lettering were three words.
"Still with you."

Yet another day passed without her doing much and that broke her. She felt disappointed and lonely. She curled up in her blankets in her dark bedroom. There was no light save for the occasional lightning outside her window. “When will I ever stop feeling this way?...” she questioned. With an empty aching heart and tears that soaked her pillow, she yearned for slumber, for only then will her endless thoughts cease.
And well, that girl is just me but in a different setting. The emotions are there though... I’ll see myself out now. I’ll be fine sooner or later... only to fall down into this abyss yet again.

Bit disappointed, sad, stressed, anxious, self critical... and somehow you managed to find my one comment and decided to reply. But, yeah I’ll take up on that offer. It’s long tho and, well, feel free to not read it.
There are small things like how I don’t want to go out with my dad(I live with my mom) even tho ik I should bc it’s probably the anniversary to a grandparent’s passing. I wish he’d hate me so I don’t have to feel guilty about not loving him as a daughter.
Then there are reoccurring thoughts like “I should stop being lazy,” “why haven’t I grown?,” “I’m lost.” I get self critical and sometimes I can pull myself out, but other times I just really need someone beside me to give me hugs and reassurances. Another year passed without any big accomplishments, and I hope I won’t forever be like this-not exploring, not trying, not pushing myself hard enough, not getting out of my comfort zone. If I could choose, I’d rather have a dream and passion rather than being smart. What good does high grades do when I can’t even take a step forward into any direction in life. I’m stuck choosing what to do.
And that kinda goes on to the next one: future. College is coming soon and ig big changes like that cause some stress too. College, career, future... responsibilities and having to figure things out myself bc my mom doesn’t know much since she wasn’t born here.
All of these things just make me feel down. Tmr I have to go with my dad for a bit... idk if I’ll even have the energy to and just thinking about possibly meeting my relatives who I’m not even close to makes me anxious already. I’m tired. Yet the world doesn’t stop just bc I’m tired, I’ll still have to power through anything I need to do. School is coming soon too and I’ll have to manage then too. I’m just really tired, the type sleep can’t fix.

"My name is Jungkook! What's yours?" Jungkook introduced smiling widely.
"Not interested," I grumbled, brushing past him.
"Hey! I just want to be friends!" he complained, grabbing onto my hoodie sleeve.
"Y/N," I muttered, shaking him off.

"I uh... like you?" Jungkook exclaimed, rubbing his neck anxiously.
"I like you too!" I grinned, jumping into his arms as he spun me until I got dizzy.
