I have been living in Philippines for 36 years.I have taught a lot about this video.Learning English is a continuous process. Thanks to ur video.I've learned a lot.
First of all i want to say , you are the best teacher ever. Huge respect to you for your valuable time to give us . I have lived in Spain for 9 years but last few years i have been living in Palma . This is one of the island of Spain. And i work as a waiter in the restaurant and i felt i need to learn English to speak with the customer. I know i don't speak very well but Last few years i'v been trying to learn english on you tube and i have found you on here . As a teacher i'v gotten you thankful to Allah.
Well, well, well, studying is a definitely endless process... I've lived here for more than 20 years and I've been improving my English for this time. However...you know what I mean. This is why I've always taken many advices from your videos, Greg. Thank you!
I've been learning English for 10 years. I've learned a lot this period. Thank you for this class, Mr. Greg, your way of teaching makes understanding English more easily.
Since I've started watching your videos I've been learning awesome tips to improve my english conversation. I've been thinking to practice it with my friends. I've read so many books in the past that aren't simple and clear as your lessons are. I've been thinking to watch one video per day before going to work.
Dear Sir, By watching your videos again and again i can really improve my English grammar. I have been learning English for a long time and i am still slipping in my grammar. I have studied TOEFL course, i have read and done many test, i have encountered and discussed many Grammar topics but still gaps i need to improve. I wish you were our teacher when we were students. Such master, such student. You rock! Keep teaching!
I want to slap this video against the duolingo teachers. I have been studying Russian through English (Dutch native) and I get marked wrong when I use the live/work exceptions correctly! Grrr...Thanks Greg, your blue eyes and enthousiasm are popping from the screen!
I’ve been watching this channel since my new Irish teacher sent me a video, and I’ve learned a lot through the material. Thanks, man! You’re amazing explaining English
Hi. Greg I have to admit you although I have learned English for over 6 years in Poland and l have been living in UK for 18 years from your lessons I finally understood the difference of this 2 tenses. I used to use Perfect Continuous speaking with English people but once they looked at me very strange and stopped talking I felt very confused about using these two tenses and until now. Thanks. I really like your lessons.
Thank you very much Greg, you are the best! Your explanations are great. So easy to understand 🌸🥳🎉👍 I’ve lived in Czech Republic for 34 years. I’ve been living in Germany for 12 years.
Hello Daria, According to your information, what I understood is that You are in Germany now and you've been living there for 12 years. If you mean that you had lived in Czech Republic before moving to Germany, then you should say: I lived in CR for 34 years. Because, the fact that you lived there is not actual anymore. However, if to erase "for 34 years" out of that sentence, your sentence will be totally right as you will refer to your life experience. "I've lived in Czech Republic" is your experience and you may or (mostly) may not live there anymore. But if you add time phrases such as "for+34 years" or "since 1998", it means, you are still there. I hope it helps. Cheers 😊🤘✊
You need a new English teacher. Your sentence is not possible. It is not possible to live in two different places at the same time, which is what your sentence means.
I watched many other English teachers but to be honest... you're the best. I started since two weeks and I will take my time to do a lot of exercises. I'm intermediate but the verbs are actually my hell😂 thank you Greg
I have been learning English for approximately 8 years. I have learned just the basic level of English. But u can change it. You explain it very well. :)
I have visited London once in my life. The most impressive experience was when I accidentally bumped into a stranger and HE said "Sorry!" 😂 😂 I've been telling about this incident to countless people by now.
I have been following to you channel just some days. I have recently finished cours in English school to pre-intermidiate level but I have understood whole this lesson without subtitles 😊Hello from Russia! No war!🕊
Your lessons are perfect, perhaps because of your hypnotic blue eyes ? Or because your explanations are so accurate and clear ! I'm French and I've been living in Réunion Island for twelve years, and before I've lived in mainland France . Thx a lot.
Since 2005 I have run many races. This morning I have been running slowly for 20 minutes. Great lesson, Greg. The difference between the two patterns is clear.
When I watched first time your videos I'm really impressed then I started to follow your channel. I have been watching your videos for last couple of month
I have been watching your wonderful videos lately..... This is Present Perfect Continuous. To my utter, pleasant surprise, they have cleared my confusions of the rudimentary aspects of english grammar, up to a certain extent.... Present Perfect I hope I am right, sir! Hoping for your feedback.
I’m a native speaker of English and I’ve enjoyed watching this video. I’ve lived in four different countries. I lived in Australia for 6 years, England for 10 years, in the United States of America for 6 years and I’ve moved back to Canada. I’ve been living in Vancouver since March 1st of 2005. On a different note, if I had to learn English as a second language this would have been a lot more difficult for me. I left England after graduating from high School. (3 A levels and 4 GCSE’s). I went to University in California and got a degree in criminology.
Anyone, please, explain me one point. It was said that there are two verbs, which can be used both in past simple and present perfect: "to live" and to work". But as an example Greg gives a verb "to teach" as well. "I have been teaching for 3 years" and "I have taught for 3 years". Why? Is it an exception too?
Your explanations are excellent, Greg, and similar to mine, but better - more thorough. I teach English to adults in the workplace in France, and I'm going to occasionally start using your videos for additional homework, to back up whatever I've just taught in a lesson. So thank, you. Great work !
Great video, lad! I've been seeing your videos last days and I'm really enjoying your teaching style. I have lost a bunch of time without your lessons but not anymore. Cheers!
Dear Greg, I've started to watch your videos for two days. They are not very difficult to understand both for pronunciation and contents. Maybe your accent is simpler to easily understand but that's another story 'cause everyone of us has got its own phonetics. However, I think that here , in Italy, schools haven't reached a good method of teaching English, yet. Generally there is a very lost of time for little issues which become bigger than they are such for the attention focused on them. The issues I am talking about are : Grammar ( lot lot of it) and Exposition done learning mnemonicaly texts and phrases to prepare for oral tests. Vocabulary and Listening are few and done at an old-fashioned way, as you say in your videos ( especially for Vocabulary) So I want to thank you for your job into academies and schools and for your skills. You've got a really good way to involve people in listening to you and learning your language without fears of mistakes. I repeat for a last time : here, in Italy, schools seem to condamn you as you were in front of the Supreme Court of Justice for the most possible number of mistakes you make. So you are like our savior ( or could be 😀). Best regards!
I also want to be more precise on a fact : into universities things are done well or better than in previous schools ( i mean 5 of high school years and the previous 3 middle school years) . So, learning English is better in Faculties than in other Schools. I know I am a real Italian because of my longness in writing ( and speaking) 🤣 I'm just a foolish Italian boy
Your explanations are so simple and effective i already knew how to use these two tenses but i needed to brush up on some rules of course as learner reviewing the same rules twice won’t hurt it
I have understood when I have to use present perfect and present perfect continuos thanks to you. I have been following your lessons and I think my english is getting better. It would be an honour for me to be a student of yours. That's a writing of an italian man wanting to improve his own english thanks to you. I hope sooner or later I will be able to meet you :D Have a nice day Greg and thanks for your videos :D

In English, we use tenses that you might not use in your language.
You gotta think in English when speaking English and not in your language. Otherwise it just defeats the purpose.
