Thanks for the video. I would probably still be prying without it. I noticed you guys had a little bit of a tough time without the tool. I made one out of a $20 load binder and some 3/4 inch shaft. took about ten minutes to make. I also was luck to have some larry lugs on the track. I took off five sets and rotated it around to the rear idler. Pulled the track with just my hands. Thanks a bunch.
Nice job! I have new tracks waiting for me to put on my 277. Do you have to raise the machine first and put stands underneath? I don't think I have a floor jack heavy enough to lift it.
Yes. We had to jack it up and put it on 4 jack stands. I had to buy a larger jack for about $100 and had the jack stands already. Normal jack stands, nothing huge. I actually had the tool made at the local shop but noticed that I really didnt need it. Took a little muscle to get the track off and I am sure there are easier ways. Other track came off easier, but the broken axle gave us some issues since it was in the way etc.

Thanks saved some head scratching
Thanks. I was reading a service manual and only said to release the slack adjuster and pull the drive cog off. I'm getting nowhere.
Wow those are pain in the ass on the 277
that little dingo lol, handy little tool in tight places
looks like I will be saving my money and having it done by CAT
how did the axle break? seems like a huge part to snap
