The line from the song " Here she is today" is referring to his wife Ruby who is sitting beside him in the video. The song is about her experiences as a child.

Your analysis & prediction was correct - Archie was singing about his wife and about himself (she was singing beside him).
Thanks for your generous and heartfelt reaction, which is very much appreciated.

The forcible removal of First Nations children from their families was part of the policy of Assimilation, which was based on the misguided assumption that the lives of First Nations people would be improved if they became part of white society. Aside from the trauma of being taken away from their families, land and stripped of their culture other atrocities occurred in these religious institutions such as violent punishments and sexual abuse. This was still happening in the 1970s. These atrocities happened to Native Indians in Canada and more than likely other Aboriginal people from other countries especially if they were part of the Commonwealth.
    This is our nations shame.
Archie Roach is the voice of honesty.

Good Copy & Paste, but i can tell you personally many of us were actually glad to have a better and Safer Life.

@@65cj55 what’s wrong with copying actual facts. It’s important and I didn’t want to get it wrong or offend anyone. I am very happy for you that you felt it was a good thing for you but others would disagree. Everyone has their own experiences and all are valid. Hope you got a good dopamine hit calling me out for putting the actual definition of Stolen Generation 🙄

@@ange7xx907 The thing is, it isn't the actual facts, many of us were abused, sexually assaulted and Women were treated badly, there was no rule of Law, no age of consent, no Police or Courts for Restraining Orders etc etc...i hope you got a good dopamine hit with your fake virtue signalling...

Yo, guys this wasn’t about just abuse, it was about how it happened. she was taken away, literally stolen from paradise - a life in lovely nature they lived in balance with. it’s a very, very deep song because it was a national crime against humanity. The kids were stolen as recently as 1968. There was so many systemic similarities to the Indigenous North Americans and now the Indigenous Palestinians. The People of this Earth have always been forced to live in harmony and developed relationships with Nature that we stay numb to at our own peril.

this is a song about the stolen generation you know the one people say happened so many years ago and should be just forgotten the people responsible have never been held accountable and now never will and is the main cause in the rift between the real australian people and the coloniser's if you want a taste of what the native australians had to endure watch "rabbit proof fence " its a movie about young aborigine girls struggle to get back to their parents after escaping the horrors of living in a church run mission
