Podcast! That's amazing, Regan. Your command over language and the way in which you narrate things never fail to leave me in awe, and I already know how cozy and incredible this podcast is going to be. Followed, and the notifications are turned on....can't wait for your episodes 😍
Yay! The Golem and the Jinni is one of my all time favorite books. I'm happy to see you are reading it, too. There's a fairly recent sequel too, so I look forward to hearing what you think of both!
For November, I read the tea duology by Judy Lin. A Magic Steeped in Poison, and A Venom Dark and Sweet. I also read book 3 in the series Before the Coffee Gets Cold called Before Your Memory Fades. And The Midnight Library. Started How to Get Eaten but will definitely be a December book at this point
Thank you for linking your podcast on pocketcasts! I don't think I've ever seen a podcast actually link to it and it's what I listen to all my podcasts on. I know I can always just search it but I appreciate it being linked. Can't wait to listen to it!
I loved Bloodmarked too! It’s so great. I’m ready for book 3! Tracy Deonn is going places. Been waiting for your thoughts on it and they didn’t disappoint like the book itself.
Cibola Birn was such a good book and it only gets better. I just finished the last one last week and oh man, it's up definitely in my favorite series of the year.
I read some great books in November! For YA, I read The Drowned Woods by Emily Lloyd-Jones and A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking by T. Kingfisher, but of which were very fun in different ways. I also read the Lovelight Farms series by B.K. Borison, which was the coziest romance series ever!
Here's what I read in November Once upon a December Always in December by Emily stone Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey his memoir Christine by Stephen king The ballad of love and glory by reyna grande A secret blade by melissa Blair Beyond the shadow by Brent weeks The rules of magic by Alice Hoffman prequel to practical magic
Congrats on the podcast! That is great! I read 6 books in Nov (which seems to be average for me this year): Scum Villain's Self-Saving System vol 4, Onmyoji & the Tengu Eyes vol 1, Husky and His White Cat Shizun vol 1, Before Your Memory Fades, and Lady Midnight.
I’m reading BLOODMARKED and BABEL this month (hopefully, lol). I started BLOODMARKED a few days ago. I know I’ll love it, but I haven’t finished it yet. Books I read in November: - MY DEAREST DARKEST by Kayla Cottingham - MEXICAN GOTHIC by Silvia Moreno-Garcia - WHITE HORSE by Erika T. Wurth - Beta read an Adult Historical Romance for an author friend - THE THOUSAND CRIMES OF MING TSU by Tom Lin
Congrats and well done to you on your amazing big book reading month of November tbr please stay safe and enjoy your reading love your Aussie family friend John ❤❤❤
I just finished the Expanse in November! I will say the best is yet to come for you. #5 and #8 were my favorites overall. (#6 was my least favorite, but it was still 4 stars)
I decided to read a nice fantasy for November. The Harrow Saga by Phil Mazza is published by a small publisher and is a coming of age fantasy with some powerful female characters. The language is wonderful. Warning: there's a lot going on, and the pace picks up as you read through the series. Some great plot twists, of course, and it's interesting how the author's writing style changes to reflect the maturity of the female protagonist. If you're tired of Gaiman, Martin, and Sanderson, you should check it out. Highly underrated!
You would love The Dark Tower series by Stephen King! Fantasy and portals!! The second book is better and it is epic!!! A stunning romance in the fourth book too!
I picked up Jade City by Fonda Lee in November and I have a question for people who have read it: If you loved it, did you love it from the start or did it take some time to get into it? I've been dying to read it but in the first 80 pages or so I'm just finding it OK (maybe a little less than OK). I set it down and will probably try again later, but maybe I'm just not its target audience?
It took a while for me to get into it. It’s not a subgenre I typically enjoy (mafia/crime family). I don’t remember exactly when it hooked me but it did take a bit. It ended up being a 4 star read and I bought the rest of the trilogy (haven’t read them yet though)
I got to the halfway mark before DNFing. I heard the 3rd book was amazing but just like you could not get into it. I think it is set for a specific target audience and I am not that person
I was super hooked from the beginning but I think it's because as someone who is Cantonese and who grew up on old school HK movies, I could literally just picture Jade City in my mind and as I was reading could immediately pick out who I think would match the characters of the book. So it's very my style
This month I’ve read Queen of Shadows by SJM and Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco. The first book of KotW was better than I thought, but I’m finding the second book so difficult to get through atm because it gets interesting and then boring every few chapters.
Bummer about Hand of the Sun King, I was hoping for a truly amazing political fantasy read. I'll probably still give it a go but with medium expectations. Are you going to pick up the sequel?
Regan, congratulations on the podcast! I read Michelle Obama's new book The Light We Carry, Sign Here by Claudia Lux, and FINALLY finished Ship of Magic by Robin Hobb after starting it almost 3 months ago! I also listened to audiobooks of Once Upon a River by Diane Setterfield and This Time Tomorrow by Emma Straub. All good reads, I'd say. 😊 Oh, I almost forgot - I also started The Displacements by Bruce Holsinger as part of a book club I heard about through the University of Virginia, but unfortunately I had trouble getting into that one so I've hit pause and we'll see if I come back to it later.
Please drink some hot tea, eat yummy soup. As a mom of a daughter close to your age, I can tell you are sick (the eyes). Snuggle with Matilda, watch bingeable TV, stay warm and cozy and pray Clay doesn't get sick too. I feel bad you're having to do a video, as much as I love it. Take good care. A decent reading month! Its a shame about Fairytale and once again you remind me that I need to pick up Foundryside 😅
also read fairy tale this month! i’m torn between wishing it was 800 pages long and 200 pages shorter 😂
I know what you mean!!
Ha I wish the ending was expanded better but still really liked it a lot.
I just finished the Expanse in November! I will say the best is yet to come for you. #5 and #8 were my favorites overall. (#6 was my least favorite, but it was still 4 stars)
I had a question as a beginner french booktuber : I love how you talk about Books, how much do you prepare for your videos ?

Someone told me to stick through the first book because 2 and 3 are so good 😂

I didn’t like it at all! I pushed through and read the whole book but just couldn’t get myself to like the characters enough to be invested.
This month I’ve read Queen of Shadows by SJM and Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco. The first book of KotW was better than I thought, but I’m finding the second book so difficult to get through atm because it gets interesting and then boring every few chapters.

I owned the hand of the sun king but then last week something just told me to unhaul it because I felt it might disappoint me.
Downloaded the first episode!
yay!

Hi there Hi there
There's another booktuber who has cozy book club. I would suggest a name change for you.
Did anyone catch the lamp randomly coming on?
