I’m so ecstatic to hear both Drew & Pili are trying out Baldur’s Gate 3, it will be all the more fun having someone to share the experience with-especially if you both make vastly different decisions throughout the game! Unfortunately, since the game is based on Dungeons & Dragons original tabletop role playing game, the turn-based combat is a core feature that can’t be avoided, but toggling the settings could definitely help with minor aspects like graphics, camera angles, and combat difficulty. For me it was also the first time not only diving into the vast Dungeons & Dragons setting, but also playing such a complex, turn-based combat game so it was a lot to absorb at first, but once you get more acquainted with everything it becomes so addicting! I am 100% with Drew on the combat in BG3. I love the game, other than the combat. I don't like turn based combat at all, and it's literally why I couldn't finish Persona 5, even though I LOVED the game in general. I just set that bitch to the easiest difficulty to make the combat go as fast as physically possible(and it still takes forever). Also, usually the cut scenes are prerendered, so they are going to look better than the in-game graphics. You see it in games like the Witcher 3. Incredible, beautiful cut scene graphics, but it's literally just because it's a really well-made cartoon. That's why there's usually a difference in all games, it's just more noticeable in some over others.
If your character has high enough charisma, there are tons of quests in BG3 where depending on what conversation response you pick, you can convince the bad guys to either not fight or just yoink themselves. My fiance (who was playing a bard) and I did a lot of that in our first playthrough because we wanted more time to see everything.
In case as anyone hasn’t said, it’s really good as a solo game, but possible to play multiplayer. And you can have several saves/stories at once (well on pc atleast). And Drew… PC has a LOTTTTTT of mods… Pretty clothes, able to have everyone with you while you travel/fight, etc… Juuust saaayin’
I started Valhalla because of the last episode, it’s my first Assassin’s Creed game and ITS SO FUCKING GOOD. Definitely one of the best games I’ve played and I’m only like 6 hours in
Queen charlotte made me ugly cry and I kept watching the clips knowing I’d cry again. The help makes me cry no matter how many times I see it. Fried green tomatoes, beaches, all great for a good cry. Books- also fried green tomatoes, the great gatsby (the part with his dad made me inconsolable), the old Willis place, pretty much anything by Mary Downing Hahn. Sometimes you just need to cry.
If yall love movies on sisterhood, yall HAVE to see the color purple. The new one is fantastic and I was silently crying with my mouth open and coughing from crying so hard. 10/10

as a nerdy listener 😂 i would expect nothing less from someone coming into dnd/baldurs gate mechanics for the first time. it can be really tedious and annoying sometimes but you get used to it and the better you get and stronger your character gets, the easier it is and less annoying. it's tough in the beginning but i think satisfying in the end
I used to sleep on the shower floor so I would be left alone in the morning before school 😂😭💀 Now my chronic illness a** has to sit or maybe pass out and if I’m sick enough I will accidentally fall asleep lmao
Now that my boyfriend finished his first Baldur’s Gate run, we’re doing a run for me where I get to make all of the story decisions while he plays the actual combat. I get nauseousss from the birds eye view, and it’s good quality time too :) 6:41
Having played the whole thing, I don't think it's possible to play without any fighting, and it's always turn-based, sometimes some missions force you to enter that mode even without fighting. But the bird eye view, that you can change, there should be an option for that. Honestly I hated the fighting as well when I started playing but I got used to it pretty quickly
Drew, I love bg3 to death, and I play on the easiest difficulty possible. I recommend customizing your difficulty, I dropped the difficulty of all the fights to explorer, lowered the amount of food you need to rest, set my short rests to fully heal me, made it so I can see the difficulty of the roll, and set it so I can multiclass (put different levels into new classes, like 1 lvl cleric and 3 lvl barbarbian) I speed run the fights to get back to the story lol. Also, to be sucking and fucking everyone, you do have to settle with one person eventually, but 2 companions let you bring in a second guy (it's the same guy and the only option for poly) HAVE FUN!!!
Drew fully gets it with BG3. I also want primarily story, but I’m also a D&D fan. Tip, some characters will let you be in an open relationship like Halsin.
