    • @TechSalesTom
      @TechSalesTom ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Absolutely, this “likely to fail” statement is ridiculous. If paddles “failing” during a match is a real concern, paddle certification needs to include a delaminating durability stress test covering a tournament length, and then have players use a new one for major events.

    What an idiotic system the pickleball authorities have. So you can claim someone cheated and based on your claim they get defaulted the next match and then it comes back there was nothing wrong and that person still loses just based on your claim? How is that an ongoing system and who came up with that knowing how stupid that is. Does that happen in tennis? Imagine if someone accused you of something and based on that it reflected on your next match? They should do before tests or just legalize these paddles and tell players they should adapt to new technologies. In tennis they introduced poly strings, those weren't banned. Or they should move the kitchen back a foot so people aren't hovering over the kitchenline slap ready. There's so many things they can do to improve the rules. I still think it's outrageous your opponent gets to call your balls in or out and that's just how it is.

      She was told it’s “likely to fail”? 😂
      What are we doing now, predictive analytics for point of failure? It’s either legal or not. Whoever told her that needs to stay their lane and avoid input that only an engineer with precise equipment and models could determine, and even then it’s not part of the rules. It’s incredibly distracting to have to change paddles in the middle of a match or tournament. Either everyone is required to use a fresh paddle each day or let it be and stop obsessing over paddles “potential” to “fail”

    Just learning pickleball coming from tennis. Not understanding why lot of rules were put in. In tennis over the years tennis racquets and strings have become more powerful and there is more and more spin yet we don't have limitations on how fast a person can serve with a particular racquet. Men pros routinely serve at 120+ mph with the fastest over 150 mph now. We don't say OH, we have to put restrictions so the returner can return the ball. OH, players like Nadal and Alcaraz among many others, are putting too much spin on the ball. We have to do something so that isn't so.

    I know it's a broader issue in the sport...and that Devidze's tendency to make pretty iffy line calls doesn't exactly endear other players to her....but a lot of the matches I've seen where she was getting "called out" for this was her opponents just constantly hitting ball machine shots back to the middle of her court, she smashes it (because why not), and after the opponent does this like 9-10 times in a row and gets exhausted they cry foul on the paddle.
    Same thing happens in tennis. You can't just stand there and feed balls chest high up the middle of the court to someone who loves to just cannon from the baseline...you're going to get worked.
    They're a professional racquet sport player...they're not going to miss that shot very often.
    You don't need a "delaminated" paddle to hit a ball really REALLY hard if you've got full blown tennis forehand form and someone isn't even making you move.
    The paddle issue seems to also be coupling with the issue of the sport getting a lot more popular. Some of the "old guard" players are starting to get pushed down in the pecking order and are realizing they're not quite as dominant as they thought they were. Most of them are handling it like pros and just work harder than ever to improve. But you always get that small subsection who just start throwing tantrums like they're "owed" winning forever.
    As the competitive pool gets bigger and bigger...being at the top of the game is going to become harder and harder.

    If PPA keep allowing the heavy hitter paddles’ use and not limit the weight and deflection, they are digging the grave of singles pickleball. No one wants to watch players blasting rockets at each other which are simply too fast to react to. I already can’t stand watching singles.

    When a player challenges the opponent’s paddle during or after the match, does her own paddle get tested too? Should be so in my opinion.

    • @TechSalesTom
      @TechSalesTom ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope, but not every paddle is subject to this type of failure. I agree that everyone should be subject to the same testing if this will be done. Either test at the start of the match or tournament, or mandate new paddles for each weekend, provided by the manufacturers who should be meeting standards that include durability over an entire tournament weekend at minimum.
      A challenge of a paddle that tests legal results in a $250 fine for the player who issued the challenge. IMO this is too imbalanced, with a loss being far more severe than an insignificant $250. Raise the fine to $1000 or $2000, or change the failure penalty to requiring a paddle swap and rematch. Most fair would be testing before a match, and simply allowing for a swap out with a failure. We have to assume that athletes are not purposely trying to get an unfair advantage, but the current penalties assume ill intent.
