I’m glad to watch you, I learn things , why I’m here. And I’m glad you say this is the way I do it, because I know there are other ways to do things and I can use what may work for me.
I loved the close up of your stitching. The hand movements were useful; I think I will try the sewing method on a smaller piece to see if I get the hang of it. I currently only use a hoop or Q-snap. I will have to bump up my magnifying glasses some, as my 2.25 are slightly less helpful on the higher counts. Thank you for this live stitching view.
I needed more magnification. So I did have a 2nd pair of eyeglasses made with that reading/ X-STITCH level I needed -even taking in several different pattern & fabric counts to the Optometrist who corrected my nearsided vision for me. It has made a lot of difference! Yesterday, I left my X-STITCHing area, and wondered why I was seeing blurry things in front of me? Oh, duh, forgot to change my eyeglasses back... I also make sure my light is above & directly over the fabric. I was glad to see you, Kimberly re-tuck the tail in the opposite direction because the original line was not written for 5 + stitches in a row; I do the same thing! Even though I am not working on this project, I do stitch in hand for larger projects & roll the fabric 😮 same direction you showed us; it helps to keep potential grime/hand oils off of the front stitching of the current project. Thank you and FQS staff for making these Stitchy Talks available to us! I FEEL I am stitching with friends and not by myself.!
Well, I over slept an missed the live, but I am watching the video and I learned something new today. I learn about doing the tail at the beginning. I also find that when the floss frayed that I would trim off the frayed end, so I was doing that right. Like it when I learn a new technique or confirmed that i was doing something right. Thank you Kimberly. I also got my floss fix yesterday. Was so happy to get it. Now waiting for Saying of the Seasons.
Great video Kimberly, it is always good to watch you because i get new ideas and sometimes i come up with some. One idea I tried was sticking a counting pin at the end of a row where it is one extra stitch or one less stitch so I don’t have to continually look at the pattern. The negative is getting my thread caught on the backside where the pin comes out. The other thing that i do is use a knitting needle cap for my scissors . They come in bright “cute” colors. Oh and so excited for your new edition to the family!! You remind me of my daughter she is constantly on the go with her kids activities but will add an animal to the “fray” and enjoy another mouth to feed!! Ha ha Hugs to YOU
Too many work meetings today so I missed the live. I enjoyed the stitching. I like picking up new tips to try. I learn from the video and from the comments. I love stitching with 1 strand of floss on 18 count Aida. I find my stitching is so much neater with the single strand. I don’t seem to come across any patterns that actually call for it. It’s usually just something I pick on my own. My favorite thing to watch when I stitch is Fat Quarter Shop videos. That probably doesn’t help you too much.😂 Appreciate you, Kimberly and the whole FQS team! 🌷
I can't believe I missed the livestream but I'm watching now! Thank goodness you video and save all your shows! Your work is always so beautiful and I'm particularly addicted to everything fall 😃. Thanks so much for all the helpful hints and time and energy you put into all you do!
I've never used 18 count Aida or one strand so it was fascinating to see your work. Thank you so much - you've given me the confidence to give it a try!!
I've used the damp sponge method when I used to stitch all the time. The trick is to use a damp sponge and not a wet one. Thank you Kimberly and team as always!
Kimberly thank you for all the video lessons. I have learned so much plus it’s so relaxing to watch. Also thank you to the FQS team for all they do. Kimberly I just have to add that you look exceptionally beautiful in this video. Your makeup is perfect, your blouse is gorgeous and it makes you glow. That is your color for your complexion. Nail color even matches the blouse perfectly too. Have a wonderful day.
I was looking forward to your video on the Pumpkin Lane project and you did not disappoint! Why did you decide to select the Classic Colorworks floss line? Looking forward to more videos on the project! Pittsburgh, PA
Sorry I didn’t get to see this when you were live, I do have some questions but maybe I will catch you the next time love to watch you! U do a great job and put out a great video😊
I am a new stitcher and completely frustrated with counting on linen….I was impressed with the way you were doing your stitches and how quickly you were able to manipulate the handles on the basket….hopefully this will get easier
Beautiful stitching! Thank you for showing the close up views of stitching in hand. I’m going to give that a try after seeing how much faster it goes than the stick and stab method.
I really like to watch you stitch. I do row by row. I tend to use the higher thread count such as 28 to higher, it depends on the pattern I am working on. I'm glad to watch your tutorial as I have the patterns but I hadn't put all of them together. This will help.
I loved this video! It's exactly how I would stitch, so I feel validated and like I'm "doing it right"! Thank you for the encouraging and relaxing video!
I stitch on 18 count aida, in hand, sewing method, one cross at a time. Because I have to get the cross done a just keep moving on. I really like how fast the stitching is in hand and sewing method.
Wow! And thank you… I feel like I’ve learned a lot from this video. I am definitely going to give your techniques a try. I like the thought of stitching faster 🌷
Kimberly, I run my floss over a dampened sponge routinely to straighten it. The sponge is in a very small container with a screw-on lid. Water does not sit in the container. So, there is nothing to spill.
Hi Kimberley ,you amaze me how quick you stitch ,Artie the vintage stitcher ,is wanting to know how to go about stitching the quilting witch skirt ,l cannot find that video for her ,could you please tell me what video it is please ? Thankyou .🥰
Kimberly, what color is Toby? Is he fawn like Piggy or black? I really enjoyed this Stitchy Talk. I loved how You explained how You travel up and down. Your stitching, as always, was beautiful. I didn't see the mistake until You showed it. As for repairing mistakes, I take the same attitude thar You do. If it is just a small piece that will hang in my stitching room, I probably won't fix it, however, when I was stitch the Santa Claus Type Face, I fixed all my mistakes as it was a gift. Take care, have a great weekand enjoy thenew puppy, I am so jealous. My dog, Elmo, is 10 years old and although he doesn't act 10, he certainly doesn't act like a puppy either. I agree with You, I love the way puppies smell. Have You ever smelled his feet? When Elmo was a puppy, his feet smelled like fresh popcorn. It was a sad day when the puppy smell went away.
@@FatQuarterShopFlossTube you make a knot in the end of your floss start a few stitches away from the stitch you intend to start but go through the front. Then come up through the back in the intended stitch work your way towards the “Away” knot while catching the thread in the back. Snip the knot at the base when you get to it and your start thread is buried! Caroline from Evertote has a video on her Off the Grid TH-cam channel.

Fun to see a stitch on 18 count. I did my first project recently on 18 count and really enjoyed it!

I also love 14ct aida but I love using one strand on 18ct and now I am stitching with that fabric so much more!! The stitches lay nice!! 🩷 🌞

Hello Rosalie! It's one of Kimberly's favorite fancy floss brands.
Thank you so much for showing the stitching on 18 count! Watching you stitch is very helpful! I’m not afraid to stitch on it now!
Love watching your videos!! I learn so much, thank you for sharing!!

I need to try stitching in hand again. You stitches are so neat & my stitches were a disaster. TFS.

Thank you for sharing all this wonderful information ❤
That was a help. It cleared up some of my questions.
I saw on Vonna Pfeifer to go one bigger on your needle size and that prevents shredding. It has helped me a lot!
Cross stitch and quilting is calming for me. I call it my Xanax.
Love your videos ❤

Hello Beverley! Kimberly talked about it here th-cam.com/users/liveUUdCQFo1d8M?feature=shared&t=393
I am watching late. Glad I didn't miss it.
Tudo muito lindo. Você é muito especial e delicada. Obrigada 🇧🇷 Paraná/Curitiba
Is it true that you should do a stitch at a time with variegated floss? Are there any other tips when using variegated floss.
Hello Lucky! It is highly recommended to stitch one x at a time to get the best variegation but it is not required.
How did you stitch the long orange & green border? Stitched all the orange first and then the green? Pittsburgh, PA
Hello Rosalie! Kimberly stitched from top to bottom.
I have 3 unstitches. I love them. But, the covers on all 3 won’t stay on.
Thanks Kimberly, I’m a better stitcher from watching and learning from you. ❤
Doing for now a bug beetle 🐞 on tapestry for the wall picture 🖼️😊🎉
I AM home safe for now
Do you have the thread conversions that you changed from the original?

Agree with you about TV choices. We may have 400 channels and nothing to watch. Though I have enjoyed Blossom and Yummy lately

I’m watching later. Have you ever heard of starting single strands with an “away” knot?
